Having never had any kids, nor ever having been married I do tend to enjoy my freedom. But I have come to see the short sightedness of that tendency, as its been a lonely existence. Looking forward, I'm now ready to settle down, and I'm searching for someone that I would be compatible with.
I'm not a Knight in shining armor. I tend to be more of a Knight in dented and slightly rusty armor. But the warrior inside this suit of armor has a big heart, and a warm smile!
Friends/Coworkers have often thought I was an only child, and are shocked when they find out I'm the youngest of 8. When I was born the oldest sibling had already left home, so you can see the span in ages.
A former Supervisor at work told me I'm too honest, and that I should learn to lie. Obviously, I wouldn't make a good spy!
Thankfully working in the psychiatric field for 30 years., as a Certified Psychiatric Nurse's Aide. Has helped me develope healthy strategies for dealing with people with all types of personality traits. So if you have a few quirks, that are not related to mental disorders, that's fine. My tendency is to be very open minded to many belief systems.
My employer, Cherokee Mental Health Institute, has a strict policy regarding staff and patients. If you have been an In or Out Patient at any time we won't be compatible.
I work the overnight shift, & sleep days. I sleep poorly as I am by nature a day person. I am usually up and active between 1pm and 10pm, before heading off to work.
(When I'm at work, I can not send or receive personal phone calls during work hours, so please do not try to contact me after 10pm, or before 7am.)
On my off time I like going to check out new or interesting restaurants, bars, and clubs. I seldom ever drink, because I never really acquired a taste for alcohol. However I do like the drink called "Sex On The Beach" because it has Malibu Rum in it. Which tastes like Coconut, and I love Coconut! To me this drink tastes like drinking Candy! Since I'm usually the one who drives ( due to my height, and my vehicle fits me ) if I do drink, I limit it to 1 or 2 drinks, otherwise I'm a Pop/Soda drinker.
I like going to good movies, but tend to steer clear of somber, or dark types of movies. Not into Gangster Movies, or movies like "Silence of the lambs".
I would like to meet new people whose interests are different than my own, but who could share in my interests as well. I'd like to learn about your likes, and dislikes regarding your activities, and mine as well.
I have a great sense of humor, and I have a serious side too. I'm a compassionate person, but I can stand my own ground too if need be. I prefer not to argue, who needs the added stress?
I can hold my own when it comes to conversations, and in fact I like to discuss a variety of topics ranging from activities/hobbies, movies, cooking, personal adventures, hopes and dreams just to name a few.
In my youth I was a good fisherman, but over the years I have become a bit of Jinx when it comes to fishing. I still enjoy fishing, but what's the sense if you don't catch any fish. I have recently tried fishing again, after many years of for going that activity. I still can't catch fish.
My nieces, and nephews adore me because of the fun adventures I would take them on. Camping, fishing, ghost hunting, and even laying out under the night sky looking for UFO's. Even though they are adults now they still enjoy these outings, as well as being able to go gambling with me, or going to bars.
One niece, (when she was about 12 years old) said to me, "Dave when are you gonna get married and have kids?" I asked her why she wondered that, and she responded, "Because you are so much fun to hang out with, and I can't wait to play with your kids, because they ought to be just as much fun as you are!"
I'm not opposed to socializing/dating other singles who have kids, or not. But I am not interested in becoming a biological Parent at this point in my life.
