I have HSV2. On the face, it is called a 'cold sore'. I can't call it a 'cold sore', because of the location and social hypocrisy, even though giving oral can infect a partner.
If the majority reading this took blood test, you would likely have the antibodies for HSV1 or HSV2 as I do. The last man in my life was surprised to find he was positive for HSV genitally, so please do not judge others and get tested before claiming you are clean, Viruses can stay undetected in the body for decades before they become symptomatic.
The conundrum is, most of you are blissfully ignorant of STIs and hook up for sex (unprotected) saying you "clean." However, many men and women have HSV, HPV and other STDs and "share" them, as they refuse to act responsibly by being tested and protecting themselves and others. HPV and HIV can kill so do not be in denial... get tested. (to the man who called ME paranoid after reading this, and is cruising for sex, perhaps you should get educated. it is our age group that this is spreading STDs the most. Your ignorance is palpable)
I have had HSV 25+ years and haven't had a recurrence in many, many years, but still, I have to tell because I have a conscience.
90% of North Americans have either HSV1 or HSV2 and our age group is the fastest growing statistic? Misconceptions, misnomers (EG:cold sores, fever blisters ) denial and ignorance spreads STDs, not me.
When asking for an STD panel of tests you need to individually ask for HIV, Herpes (HSV1 &2), Hep C and HPV (although HPV is not available for men at this time, it causes 30% of esophageal cancers)

We all come with baggage at our age. As long as we both work to keep it lost like airline luggage and send it back flying when it appears again, we can dwell on good times today.
