About Me |
*Once the Motorcycle & Mustang Rallies end each year, Sturgis, South Dakota is a Ghost Town. I am currently attending an on-line university - future AABA Degree. Published Author; currently writing a short story.
I was born in 1954 & raised in various parts Brooklyn, New York. Moved to Staten Island Island, New York in 1968. My Mother & Step-father felt that Brooklyn & surrounding Boroughs (Queens, Bronx, & Manhattan) were too "concrete" laden, & desired to relocate to a more suburban, hilly, tree, & grass atmosphere.
I bounced from school to school due to the fact that my grandparents felt that the Public education I was receiving, was not challenging enough. Right ! My home-life was really challenging, & finally dropped out of high school in the 10th grade. After a stint in the ARMY (Honorable Discharge), I received a GED, worked various jobs; then graduated from Control Data Institute (Manhattan, NY) in 1980.
The computer field was changing FAST ! After my divorce in 1981, moved to California. After the tech bubble burst in the 1990's, moved back to the New York area. One fine day, my pager, cell phone & backed-up repairs was pushing the envelope of my tolerance, I picked up a mega heavy monitor w/out bending my knees .... Blew-out two discs in my lower back.
After a six month recovery period, went back to work in the computer field. This time, I was assigned to light repair work; not too much bending. Another fine day, I moved the wrong way & aggravated the two blown discs in my back. Laid-up for another six months, I recovered enough to go to school for car sales in California.
Another fine day, I was delivering a new car - when my back finally gave out for the third time. Now TOTALLY Disabled in 1997, I went from a good salary to a subsistence disability pension. In 2004, I published a Trade Paperback: "Computer-End Program" by Argile Stox ((Pen-Name)). It went out of print in 2006.
Starting a Computer Repair Shop in Sturgis, SD. Grand Opening, January 1, 2012 - with at least 5-10 employees, 4 mobile vans (GOD, Willing ...)
Met a female author who resided in South Dakota. Moved out there; & after suffering a mild heart attack / inconsequential stroke, we broke-up in 2007. Moved to Sturgis, SD to be close to the medical facilities at Ft. Meade.
Currently enrolled in the University of Phoenix Online program (AABA Degree), writing a short story about the battles with my teeth; they were destroyed by medication taken to relieve the pain in my back, & Adult On-Set Diabetes.
On the topic of a "Life-Long-Mate" - I am seeking a WOMAN who has been "Around The Block" more times than she would like to admit. The fact remains that, as a human whose life has had its *UPS / Downs, I would enjoy spending whatever time that is left on this planet - in a Loving & Caring RELATIONSHIP. Marriage is an option; not a final goal. -Gary*
