The Statue of liberty by italianroyalty at 11/20/2014 12:13:56 AM We all know how it was a gift from the french.. But did you know the actual model was a black woman.. But it was changed to appease white Americans who would not accept an African-American Liberty.. Kinda f**ked up right?

When the people here heard about it, they told French to forget about it. They didn't want a black woman to represent the USA in the N.Y. harbor. So the French changed the statue to a white woman. If your going to tell a story tell the whole story.

italianroyalty	11/20/2014 11:10:15 AM No, she had chains yes, but they were broken as a sign of her being freed. The creater of the statue of liberty was famous for being against slavery, the white americans didnt like this and wanted it changed. So they made it as a white woman.
