Pictures I Didn't Take
by emkat87 at 4/22/2015 9:38:48 PM

Lost memories of you.
Pictures I didn't take.
Feelings of regret.
Something I can't forget.

Forever wondering why.
Why I didn't try,
To preserve that special day.
A day I spent with you before you went away.

I had my camera in my hand, and
I still can't understand.
Why I made that mistake,
and there are pictures of you I didn't take.

I miss your jokes,
and I miss your smile.
I wish I could see you,
And remember for awhile.

But all I have are lost memories of you.
Pictures I didn't take.
Feelings of regret.
Something I can never forget.

This is a poem about not taking pictures at my dad's birthday party and he died less than 2 months later and I live 800 miles away so his birthday was last chance I had, it has nothing to do with selfies

I think that though you weren't there to celebrate his last birthday or even get to take his picture, in your heart if you gather and recollect all happy thoughts and moments of laughter you'll have more than enough to create a collage

I feel for you. I had loads of photos of my parents, and my sister and I growing up. After my parents died, my sister decided that I didn't deserve any of the photos, and she took them all. I found a few that were hidden last year, so now I have a couple.

@op i can feel you.... Its really hard to think that one of our loved ones had passed away..... But we have to move on and always remember what they taught us....and to be inspired by their memories.... In this way they will truly remain in our hearts .....and be proud of us..... ...js

Bittersweet and poignant, your poem is well-expressed... sorry to hear of your loss.
