the local race track opens soon

Many mooms ago I used to attend the races on Saturday nights. Back then you could bring a small cooler inside along with water and pop. Sadly that is no longer allowed. But surprisingly the ticket prices are still in the $8-$10 range.
it does take 75 minutes to get there. But it is a nice ride out and back.

I grew up near beltsville speedway in Maryland and every Friday night it sounded like the Indy 500 was going on in my backyard, great memory

Did that once at Greer South Carolina. They let you run your car or even motorbike or home .it was all based on time and handicap. So if run your time and don't "break out"was, fun of course you had the real racers also!

What kind of races? I used to love watching the Kentucky Derby with all those pretty hats. They greyhounds everywhere it seems, and those dogs can run. I just don't like the stories about their care when they can't run anymore. They have established Greyhound rescues. Saw Nascar Pepsi 400, boring unless there is a crash.

Back in the 1980's I raced junk cars in the enduro race series we had at our local track. I never won, nor did the cars I drove ever make it to the end of the race, but I sure had fun! Nothing like beating the crap out of an old beater for an hour or so.

it is a half mile paved track. years ago it used to be a NASCAR sanctioned track. I don't know what this track currently runs. They used to run the Grand American Modified series. They are big and pretty fast.

That will be fun if it is like Petty raced back in the day. All these restrictions, makes for a boring race.

Dale Earnhardt was rumormed to have raced there. I met Mike Waltrip, Mike Skinner, Harry Gant and Hut Strickland.

That is exciting now. You have a big company up there called Respironics? My friends medical equipment comes from there, is that near Pittsburg?
