"May-tosh"
by kpthatsme at 5/15/2017 10:12:37 PM

Yep that's what my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter calls tomatoes. She loves them. I thought it would be a cute idea to grow 2 nice small, windowsill sized cherry tomato plants. This way she could watch them grow and see where her favorites come from. She helps me water them and has helped me transplant them to yet again, a larger container.
These "plants" are growing like crazy. They're damn near 3 feet tall. NOT what I was expecting. We don't have a backyard that I can plant them in. So I just keep replanting my "little shop of horror" tomatoes into larger pots. The problem is they have to stay in the the front window for all the lovely sunshine they need to grow big and strong.
I'm really not complaining. I'm glad they're thriving. I have read (now) that they can get up to 8 feet tall. I guess I'll just have to keep re-potting and re-staking. We'll see what happens and see if we try this little experiment next year
But between you and me - I bet we do 'cause that little one really loves her "May-tosh".

I remember as a young child helping my Grandfather and Grandmother with their garden out in back. Some great memories to this day! Loved digging up the potatoes!

KP. I grow cherry tomatoes every year. They grow very well and you do get a lot of them. And they taste so good.when she gets older hopefully she will keep on doing it.

Remember that awful cult film "Attack of the killer tomatoes?" Yep that's where you may be headed!

My grandparents lived too far away. I do remember one summer though, we went strawberry picking and found some wild blueberry bushes that we harvested as well. Justa I've grown them before but it was in my backyard and I guess I just didn't realize how tall they get. cafe - I like tomatoes as well - I still may put in a pot of basil - my favorite combo tomatoes and basil You know pawkey - I wouldn't doubt it....masses of tiny tomatoes attacking lol
