Come Fly With Me, Frank Sinatra by John Schmidt

Frank Sinatra was a famous American singer and actor, born on December 12, 1915 in Hoboken, New Jersey. Sinatra was the only child of Italian immigrants and was expelled from high school for acting unruly, just a few days before his graduation. It was not until the 1930s that he decided to sing in public and his mother helped him along. She encouraged him to sing and helped him form the singing group known as The Hoboken Four. He did several gigs and performed on a few television shows afterwards, and in 1939 he released a full-length album called “From the Bottom of My Heart.” The album did not sell very well, but he landed a singing gig with the famous Tommy Dorsey, which garnered him a lot more attention.

Soon, the popularity and appeal of Frank Sinatra began to grow. He began dating many different women, and the teenage crowd adored him. Soon he was a real ladies' man, and he began to appear in films, including his first in 1940 entitled Las Vegas Nights. The next few years were good for Sinatra, but then when World War II began, things started to turn for the worse. Many people thought of him as a draft-dodger who was unpatriotic. Eventually his career took off again, but this issue haunted him for the rest of his life. Sinatra will always be remembered as the handsome, crooning member of the Rat Pack and a classic icon of 20th century America.
