Got 155 on tuesday & was worried with our weather so cold but they are doing well.
June 26 I am to get 200 quail.
This will be all the pheasants & quail I will raise this year and this is my 6th year
of raiseing pheasants & quail to re-populate my neighborhood to decent levels for hunting.
Thought of stoping but I think some new every year is now nessasary all most with todays farming pratices or I will lose what has ben gained. and I like doing it.

Hey star! Since the mange has taken its toll on the coyote population, our grouse and pheasant population has exploded! We have been organizing coyote hunts to keep them in check, just for the bird population.

Yes the mange has helped hear as well But we still have very modern farming pratice with little habitat left to deal with hear. Modern Hybread birds are helping as well, Are new birds are better at keeping cover and don't fly or come out to roads near as much a birds of the past. It takes a supper dog even not to let some not get away from his nose.

starr, many farmers are putting the pivot corners into ceder/crab apple trees or other type of wind break shelter. Anyone doing that back east? That's also helping with the bird population around here.

A few do put cover & trees in pivit corners but not that many, more comeing out than going in.

Today they are 3 weeks old & still have 150 of the 155 birds, as they get big the pen gets smaller 150 is the max on my pen and in the past with 150 birds this week I will likely need to let some go a bit early of the release time of 4 weeks, but I will try to hold off as long as I feel I can like maybe this friday or saturday I will let 30 or so go then the rest next week sometime. Happy with this batch so far
