I've met more than my share of men who post pictures of them from 10/15 years ago and lie about their age AND their height also some of the men say on their profile they were "athletic" yea maybe back in high school but the only athletics you do now Skippy is pushing the remote.............so it's not just a girly thing.

Dude, two straight girls who i talked to. Both very pretty, serious. First one, she wants to meet right away. We talked 5 days. She asks to meet. She steps out car. Way overweight. I didn't say anything. Turns out pic was a two years old when thin. She gained during previous relationship. Second girl, talked for 6 weeks. First two pics she sends, very pretty to point that i was OK with her having three kids. Everything great. Getting ready to meet her in a week or so. But this past Monday, she says something nice and sends three pics. Again, looks completely different. Turns out first two pics were couple yrs old too. She had gained weight too. Nothing against overweight girls. My sister has same issue. But when we click on someone its cause we like what we see. For anyone to not be up front, what do they think is gonna be my reaction? Now gotta sound perverted by asking for super recent body pic. See how that goes.

Agreed... And these people are the first ones talking about dating someone in shape or attractive... Reminds me of people who talk about they deserve someone who can make them happy or give them the things they deserve...PLEASE! There are alot of regulars posters on here needing to put up new pics!...after 3 to 4 years you age a little, thats a fact! Also I have noticed a few regulars with dark backgrounds on all pics of themselves.(lighting bad) What are these people hiding??

OMG! My last two "meet n greet" men were nothing like their pics!! Both of them had posted pics 2 yrs old and to say the least..couldn't pick them out of a line up.
One I met and he was really nice, but with just a neck and above pic shot...I should have known better! He had lost lots of weight and had 80 more to go, couldn't deal with it..
The second guy also, 2+ yrs old picture, he looked absolutely NOTHING like his pic
Be careful out there too, there's some real nut cases lurking, and some aren't even real people...they aren't whom they appear to be...so beware...have fun!

with the guys most looked pretty much like their pics (recognizable at least) but, quite a few were a good 10 yrs older and 20 pounds heavier. I can understand that people would want to make that first good impression. What I don't understand is what they think is going to happen when they actually meet. Many of the same people that complain they cannot get beyond that first meeting. Try some honesty.

It goes beyond just pics. I met a couple, and they looked like their pics. But they tried to pretend they liked the things I like to do. I stated I wanted a partner to go do active outdoor things, specifically kayaking, rock-climbing, and trail biking. As in, shared interests and things we could both enjoy doing together. Starting off a potential relationship with lies ends up bombing, or in an unhappy relationship, and is just a waste of time ending in hurt/disappointment. Honesty is crucial if you are serious about making that desired relationship meaningful and lasting. Honesty upfront and throughout.

I see pictures as false perceptions of facts standing before the lens. Pictures are simply a reflection of an image that can be distorted by lighting, distance, clothing, and aingles. So I would say go into a situation with an open mind. At one time my pics gave the impression I had enormously strong arms. Yes they measured 16 inches in circumference but the pic enhanced them. Its not always false advertsing.

I honestly wouldn't waste my time and energy. The whole argument of "Don't judge a book by it's cover" goes out the window because the relationship starts out with a lie. Furthermore, if they can't be upfront with you about what they look like, who knows what else they are hiding.

I've met up with guys who posted pictures that were obviously photoshopped/airbrushed. Then they end up having acne, bald spots, and wrinkles that didn't show up.
Also, usually the same guys, lie about their age and post old photos. Met up with a guy who said he was in his late 20's, looked more like late 30's/early 40's. Gross.

I agree with this to a certain extent because I try to take care of myself. BUT not everyone is so lucky. Some people can't lose weight no matter how hard they try and just want to be accepted for who they are. BUT if someone like you is saying they don't want the overweight, ugly ones then they need to respect that as well and leave you alone and respect that it's what you want in a woman and move on from you. I don't think you are shallow at all. We all like different types.

Yes but some men only want to Skype and are fine with a Skype-only relationship. I met a guy out of state at an online dating site that did that for 6 months before I finally dumped him. I was dating other men anyway so no worries, but he was wasting my time saying he would come visit me and always backing out at the last minute. He liked staring at me on Skype and that was all he wanted. Jerk!

You just can never tell with online dating.
I have a cousin that used to model for (her) local area photo studios.
Every year around graduation the schools were covered with her portraits advertising graduation photos.
I hadn't seen her since she was 10, I was just given a picture of her. Then when she was 21 she and my aunt visited for a weekend. She opened her mouth and sounded like a four year old (high squeaky lispy teletubby voice), was about as liberal as they come, and only bathed once a week to help the environment and preserve water.
Pics don't mean shit. At best they are a general guideline.
Nothing online is a guarantee.

I had a recent date and found myself in a similar situation. Before deciding to meet, I would suggest a video chat. Only way to make sure both parties can know what they're getting themselves into. If they refuse, then something might be up. Just meet for coffee and don't go too far out of your way.
