1). Fedor
2). Anderson Silva
Fedor fought the best at whatever martial art they were best at...and dominated.
The argument can be made that Anderson Silva may yet displace him as GOAT, but Fedor was a natural LHW who fought the best HWs.
Jon Jones will be interesting to watch, but needs more fights to truly be in the running for GOAT...

Well put, however...
Fedor was in his prime and fighting the best of the best AT THE TIME. Anderson Silva is amazing and GOAT worthy, but...how would he fare against a truly stacked MW division? Sonnen? Bisping? Weidman? Belfort?...all great fighters but their records speak for themselves...
Cro Cop? Nogueira? Hunt? Etc. etc. etc. they were all killers in that time and their records showed it. Fedor would be demolished by today's top HWs (Cain, Dos Santos, etc.)...but it is a new, evolving sport.
Anderson agrees to fight JBJ and wins? GOAT. Beats Weidman? Vitor? Paychecks.
Think Ali...Tyson. Formidable opposition faced?

P4P is a myth, as you pointed out. Fedor would take The Spider down and GnP him, agreed?
The truth is, they are not that different in weight...
It is all arguable, of course. And, obviously, you know your MMA...

<----- Nothing but respect for Anderson Silva. He likely will surpass Fedor, he just needs to fight the best in his era. JBJ, or at least Top 10 LHWs. Middleweight is done...he is no question the undisputed GOAT at MW. But, his quality of opponents will always leave questions (like Mayweather).
I have no problem with the back and forth, at least until Thebestest says "enough."

you mentioned vitor in the same sentence with sonnen, and bisping... guys like them don't even belong in the same reference with belfort... evidence in the pudding(vitor knocks bisping out) ....almost 50% of vitor's fights were against former and current world champions, which explains his win/loss ratio... the fact that you give him so little respect makes me wonder about your expertise on the subject... but back to fedor... the forum he dominated in was pride which was shown to be owned and run by the yakusa... all of his fights are than suspect... he had a brilliant promoter... that's about the only thing for sure... no comparison to the spider... the question should be the spider or GSP... these two have beaten every one they have faced, including champion's from the other promotions... if i had to give an edge it would be the spider above GSP and than maybe randy couture... fedor's pretty far down on the list... if and when bones moves to heavy weight, there he will be up there holding the title of "GOAT"... if maurice smith were fighting in todays era and he was in his prime... i suspect you would find him an interesting prospect for "GOAT" also...
