There's no advantage or disadvantage, as long as both know it's just dating.
I date as many men as I want, when I'm not in a relationship. When in a relationship, I date only one. It sometimes takes dating multiple men before you find one you want to be exclusive with.

You can only speak for yourself. All dates don't involve going out to eat.
It's not about getting a good meal! My fridge and pantry stay well stocked. Going out to eat is my least favorite thing to do on a date.
There are other black women who date multiple men when they're not in a relationship, the same as I do. I don't understand why you think "sisters" dating is any different from other races dating. You speak of "our" men. You cannot speak for all black men or all black women. I've never known any women of any race, who date just to get a meal.
When will some black women get it through their heads that we're not some species apart from other races. "we sisters", "our men".

I believe you need multiple men to make the perfect man.
You need the guy who has good conversations, I mean the 'When Harry Met Sally' type of conversations. He respects you but isn't afraid to offend you with his opinion. This guy is also good for going out to dine with and just hang out with. You do NOT have sex with him.
Then there's the guy for single mothers. He likes the kid(s) and not in a creepy way and perhaps likes the idea of fatherhood or just has a lot of love to give. Whenever makes plans with you he always wants the kids to be included so it's always a 'family' outing. Chances are this guy is ugly though, but if you can look past it and like him for him you'll be open to a world of kindness. He's also very dependable and is there when you're in ANY jam and while he would definitely love sex he's okay just spending time with you and the kids. (My auntie met a man like this so they do exsist, but she didn't appreciate him so they parted ways).
Then there's the guy you could use for sex. The sex is amazing and dynamite, and addicting and if you were in a relationship it would definitely cause you to cheat. This is the guy you sleep with. And if you're sleeping with one of the two previous I mentioned then you may not have need for this guy. The only thing you both have in common is the sex and you avoid any and all awkward conversations wanting to get down to the deed.

No disadvantage as long as she has not been romantic or physical with anyone or has misrepresented herself. Once she has become romantic or physical with at least one of the men - she needs to stop seeing the others. If she doesn't she's playing and asking for trouble.

I find there are no advantages to dating multiple men- someone always gets hurt or played... but many do serial date and it works great for them!
I believe honesty and being upfront about dating other men is the best policy, because eventually if you are meant to be exclusive with someone - it will ALL work itself out. He will respect you more for being honest about it. Because, in the long run, if they can't handle it when you are just dating and freak so quickly, then this insecure jealous- type of guy is not the guy to get exclusive with after all.... Trust that.

To clarify. When I say dating, I don't mean having sex with them. That doesn't happen until I have found one to be exclusive with. Like now.
I forget that some take dating to mean sleeping with!

I've done this. It's non-exclusive dating.
Advantages: locating the qualities with a specific intent that you can be upfront about while dating and going beyond looks.
Disadvantages: Weight Gain.serial daters, model-philia, sex addicts & players. weed them out! the extremely actor handeoms or GQ model looks men don't have much else to offer and they are lazy at everything they do-tell them to go away.

yeah the eating out so many times a week is hell on the diet and weight!!
I found it muddied the waters I couldn't keep them straight!! I hadn't dated in so long that I didn't know what I wanted when I first started dating again last year. After I figured that out, so back to "one at a time". The kind of man I wanted, wouldn't put up with that for one second, but I needed to get my dating feet wet again per say.

People date so they can figure out if they want to be in a relationship with that person. Dating multiple is good a good thing. Just be honest about it and you shouldn't have any problems. Once you decide to be in a commented relationship, stop dating the others. I don't see any disadvantages.

I've tried it for a summer a long time ago. I was juggling 4 women at once and it really did get confusing. I wasn't giving each one a fair chance. Having said that, I'm sure they were doing the same as well. Not to mention, it did get rather expensive.
