I'm not familiar with your normal routine, but basically, you have to burn more calories than you take in. You should combine cardio and weight training at least 3 times a week. Kettlebell exercises are also very good for the core. Avoid sugary food and drinks, fried food, and lower your fats and carbs, except for complex ones. Avoid processed foods and get sufficient fiber which will help curb your appetite. If you must eat bread, make sure it's whole grain. Fruits, vegetables, grilled chicken, fish, are all good staples and avoid red meat unless it's grass-fed. If you eat yogurt, stay away from commercial brands and eat Greek yogurt like Fage. High in protein and low in sugar. Do a good deal of walking and(or) running. Swimming or bicycling is also great. Good luck!

I agree. More vegetables with lean meats and fruit. Eggs and dairy is fine. A little whole grain bread or brown rice is too. Limit white carbs. A cheat meal before a resistance workout is ok in my book since you'll be using it as strength energy. The cheat meals will curb cravings too.

As far as working out, I agree too, resistance exercises and cardio. There are many workouts you can do. If you're limited, you can do several sets of push ups(from your knees if necessary) at home for a pushing exercise, several sets of underhand chin ups for a pulling exercise on a cheap Walmart doorway pull up bar while standing with only one foot on a chair for assistance. You can alternate legs on the chair on alternate sets. For cardio, you jog around the block or a park. Or if you prefer to stay indoors watching tv for cardio, get a cheap inclinable treadmill from craigslist or somewhere and walk on its highest incline. Do resistance exercises when you're fresh before cardio. This is a basic 3 times a week at-home workout. There are many others depending on your equipment or gym access. They can all be effective.
