I got home from work today. Felt a pain in my forearm so I pulled up my sleeve. There was a tick sticking out of my arm with it's head burrowed in. (I was hunting yesterday) I also now have a rash on my entire arm. Not the "bulls eye" rash one might think of when thinking lymes disease ... just a general rash. No red lines either.

I think a tick in you no matter what is a problem
You got someone that can come check all of you?
Take 50mg of benedryl and if its not gone in the morning call the doc. Also soak in Epsom salt bath.

Get thee to a doctor, stat.
Some ticks carry Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, that can be bad. A favorite teacher of mine in Jr high died from that.
Hate to put that in here, but with ticks you gotta be careful.

You live to far away.
Seriously, take the benedryl! You should have some on hand for your dog anyways. Take 2 tablets.
If you have a dog, you should always have benedryl and baby aspirin on hand.
And yes Westy I am. We have a shit ton of ticks here.

If you get it out within the first 24 to 36 hrs scooter
you are usually ok,
But I would still put into a pill bottle and have it checked for Lyme Disease
Just had to take a class on this a week ago
Bullseye target is a dead give away but not always.
If ya pull it out make sure you get everything

From the CDC webpage
Tick Removal
If you find a tick attached to your skin, there's no need to panic. There are several tick removal devices on the market, but a plain set of fine-tipped tweezers will remove a tick quite effectively.
How to remove a tick
Use fine-tipped tweezers to grasp the tick as close to the skin's surface as possible.
Pull upward with steady, even pressure. Don't twist or jerk the tick; this can cause the mouth-parts to break off and remain in the skin. If this happens, remove the mouth-parts with tweezers. If you are unable to remove the mouth easily with clean tweezers, leave it alone and let the skin heal.
After removing the tick, thoroughly clean the bite area and your hands with rubbing alcohol, an iodine scrub, or soap and water.
outline of tick
Avoid folklore remedies such as "painting" the tick with nail polish or petroleum jelly, or using heat to make the tick detach from the skin. Your goal is to remove the tick as quickly as possible--not waiting for it to detach.
tweezers grasping a tick close to the skin's surface
tweezers pulling a tick away from the skin in an upward motion
Follow-up
If you develop a rash or fever within several weeks of removing a tick, see your doctor. Be sure to tell the doctor about your recent tick bite, when the bite occurred, and where you most likely acquired the tick.

You guys do rock!
@daiz. 70 mile round trip. I could use the local hospital if it's "life threatening" but I think the insurance company may not see this as life threatening. Ive only had 1 beer and not even finished with that yet. I am tired from wandering around in the woods until midnight collecting ticks. Actually looking for a deer but apparently more successful with the ticks! I'm going to bed soon but I'll put antibiotic cream on it before I go to bed.

Look, it bit you...the shit is in there...you want the head out, pour some peroxide on it. That should loosen it up enough to get the head out with tweezers. Otherwise, let it scab over and pick it.
I may not be a nurse but I use to be a vet tech and that's what we would tell pet owners over the phone so they wouldn't waste our time.
Ya that sounded horrible..

I understand what your saying scooter but if this tick is infected with Lyme disease
the longer u wait the more dangerous it becomes.
Symptoms of Lyme Disease last for a long time.
A client of mine was on heavy anti-biotics for close to a month
this person walked 4 to 6 miles everyday once he contacted Lyme's disease
He was bed ridden pretty much for 2 weeks.
lost all energy didn't want to and didn't have the will to do anything.
Your choice thou just letting you know what I think
Also has long as the head of the tick is in you and it has Lyme disease
it is still putting that poison into you.
