I am under the opinion that if more christians read the bible, there would be less christians.
See, ive read it. Cover to cover...And I gotta say, entertaining....But not a book i would want to base my moral code of conduct on. I talk to christians openely about it, and few can ever match my knowledge of the book. Those who can are always semi-christian...You know unsure, and usually just dont give a damn! The hardcore ones have never actually read the book. Just bits and peices their pastor tells them to.
I love bringing up unknown stories like....After killing goliath King david screwed a married woman, and killed her husband...Joshua threw a spear through two teenagers having sex...Peter murdered a married couple for lying about tithing...the children of Israel killed every innocent man, woman, child, and beast in certain cities they invaded...And God told them to...God ever tell you to do that?
Any thoughts???

I think it is the indoctrination and not the reading material. The bible could say "Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle......" and they would still think the way they do. You can not overwrite belief with logic when someone is truly indoctrinated.
