Hi. I currently live in NW Florida and moved here from the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. I miss the wide open country and being in tune with nature. I am not happy with the congestion and crime in Florida. I have also lived in southern Florida and found the only difference was the humidity.
I had to give up my siberian huskies when I moved and that broke my heart. I even had them trained to pull my toboggan. I love rugged outdoorsy men and I have processed many pounds of game meat and know how to can fruits and vegetables. My favorite fish is salmon too... maybe these are signs.
I have looked into the price of rentals in the Anchorage area, and I am hoping incomes reflect the cost of living. I am an LPN and was wondering if there is a shortage of nurses up there in the Anchorage area.

Thank you. I have been looking into the prices of rental properties. I think the Anchorage area is out of my price range.

Ps. slso the ccost of living is about 30%% more but the wages generaly are double so the stanndard of living is higher plus after you are a residend you get$ 2000.00 to 3000.00 a year from state.

Thank you.
I was offered a great position with a nursing agency. Looks like I will be staying here a bit longer.

IF you do get to move back up here.... a couple notes.
If you're with a travel nurse agency, they can probably get you a job up here, in any of several places. Usually will hook you up with housing, too. If no housing, and you have a choice, look at the Mat-Su hospital. living out this area is cheaper than Anchorage. Even if you land in Anchorage, commuting from the Valley isn't bad.
Prices ARE higher here, and I don't know about what they pay LPN, RN pay is good.
You DON'T get 2000-3000 annually from the state, but if you live here over a year (Jan. 1--Dec 31) you'll qualify for the PFD, which can be around, even over, $1000.
It IS an area with big open spaces.... I hope you get a chance to come see.
