I am in my second year of widowhood. I have been griefstricken and lonely.....have spent days doing absolutely nothing....wasting one day after another. .....then I came across a group in Missouri......
The Widow Wednesday group is for widows and widowers alike. The group has designated Wednesday as Widow's Day.....people coming together to make new friends and to make something of this new life we've been handed. I am starting a similar group here in Glynn County ,GA.........I just created a Facebook page, and as the membership grows, we can actually have events, meeting one another for some good times.
People, I spent Easter Sunday in tears. I played the music my husband loved, sat in his chair, and cried and cried. I call it my periodic meltdown....a grief cleansing......the meltdowns are becoming farther apart....and that is good! We must get on with our lives.....and I believe if Widow Wednesday takes off, we can have some good times.....EVERY Wednesday!
For anyone in Glynn County, I invite you to join my group on Facebook: Glynn County Widow Wednesday......I hope everyone else will consider forming or joining such a group.....
God Bless,
Joan

Now's your chance to do something for yourself and others.......Start a Widow Wednesday group in your community. I live in a small town. A letter to the editor got the ball rolling without spending any money.
I have gotten a free web address : www.glynnww.org
Now I'm working on a free phone #. A follow up letter to the editor with the site address may be all that's needed to really get this group off the ground.

Sounds exciting and wonderful. Wish they have something around here like that.
I found only one widow group in my area and they meet one day a week. I have been thinking of giving it a try and see how it goes. Wishing you much success.

Often Hospitals will let you use one of their conference rooms for organizational meetings. The advantage is many have affordable cafeterias where a healthy meal is a nice prelude. Some will actually offer a mail address for co-ordinateing with other groups and people who are nervous about contacting a personal address as some kind of scam. Also lets the group live on and prevent burn out of one person doing all the work. Also keeps you from being hassled by some jerk who sees you as a "mark" who can't ignore them even if they really should be. Usually a very small percentage of the people who will come through your group but it only takes one to make life difficult.
