If you're overweight first. No. It won't make much difference. There is no spot reducing. If you're already fairly fit and in your target weight range, yes it can help. But there are so many other muscles that affect your abdominals that ignoring them won't do much good.
I like to use this analogy. Not totally accurate but paints a good picture. You have a sheet of metal. Very strong and rigid by itself. Imagine it's your ab muscles. You have four holes in the corners and four bungee cords. Those bungee cords stretch out to poles. Those bungee cords are your back muscles and chest muscles and hip muscles etc. if you have toned and strong muscles, they'll pull taught. Such as new bungee cords would do to the metal sheet. Pull it up and pull it taut. But let's say your muscles everywhere else aren't toned. Say you have old weather-worn bungee cords that have been left outside. They don't have much strength they're weak and that sheet of metal sags.
So a 30 day an challenge? In 95% of cases no it's not going to do you much good. Unless you're implementing other strength training and cardio routines too

"Lose some of my middle section"
Aka fat? Where a LOT of women hold fat? There is no "spot reducing". All it will do is time up muscles beneath the fat. You won't see much difference.

If the program includes weight loss, it can work in a month for people who are lean because they don't have to lose much weight to see their abs. For people who aren't lean, it's gonna take a few months or several months of weight loss to see their abs, not 1 month. But who cares if it takes you a few months or several months because you'll get there anyway as long as you keep losing weight and exercising.

Good addition. But I would like to clarify that a weight loss regimen WITH the ab-challenge is necessary to see any results if someone has excess weight. An ab-challenge alone will not reduce weight around the middle m

True, both weight loss and exercise are necessary.

So... I'm guessing it might take some time to see my results. But ik I'm on the right track with trying to get fit and healthy.

Well, about 2 lbs. lost per week is generally accepted as a good, healthy rate of weightloss. So if all you need to lose is 8 lbs. to see your abs, then the 4 wks(or 30 days) would be enough time to get to your goal. But if, like the majority of people, you need to lose more than 8 lbs. to see them, then you would need more weeks. 90 day length challenges are more realistic for many people to get to their goal.

But just doing ab workouts alone that is outlined on this popular 30-day challenge isn't enough to alone cause a 2 pound weight loss per week. What else are you doing workout wise? What changes have you made to your eating habits?

I thought my eating habits were good calorie wise. I was 1200 per day. I knew what to eat and stay below. I also exercised: walked, hiked, biked.
Now I dropped that calorie "diet" and started carb counting: 45 grams for a woman vs. 60 grams for a man. I've also been into Aquatics fitness. It has really strengthened my core. I can feel my whole body work out now. People notice the change. OP maybe that's what you can do in addition to the ab workout. ChevyBabe

Finished the ab challenge. Doing 50 reps of every kind from now on. But I'm also throwing the 30 day burpee challenge on top of that.
