So I'm debating on 2560 X 1440p or 1920 X 1080p. I'm not sure which route to go.
I had an Asus 144hz monitor. I did enjoy it but I am very curious about gaming at higher resolution. Normally I don't play games at highest settings cause I enjoy good framerates. So any other decent cards to recommend would be great Will do SLI in the future.
Note: I had AMD HD 7950 (2) at one point. Even with one I did not have best experience with drivers Not bashing AMD but I do prefer NVidia even though the R9 series sounds appealing.

Listen up my friend...
and I'll answer your question...
in MY opinion 2560x1440 is pretty decent.
MUCH more decent than 1080p.
However.........
it does require a lot more gpu to run games on top settings.
But IF you can provide the gpu power,
I'd suggest 2560x1440. if not, just go with 1080p.
A single 6950 will not provide top settings in all games at 2560x1440@60 fps.
BUT 2 6950s will though.
And finally..
get all the RAM you can...
the more RAM you have to utilize.. the BETTER.
That's it for now.. ..!!
Cause I'm outta here..

And ALL my friends....

Unless you play for ex. X-Plane in high settings or alike apps that use lots of RAM, you should be fine with 2GB and save some bucks for now.
I've a GTX770 2GB and it works ok with x-plane. I might get ~5 FPS more but I don't care for the next 4 years or so.

Thanks guys. This is somewhat tricky for me. I just don't want to buy a gpu and end up wanting to upgrade a year later. I want to get at least 2 to 3 years from my setup before having that upgrade urge.
