I know that we now have days like memorial day, 4th of July, Veterans Day, and many other times during the year that we show appreciation for our soldiers past and present. I wanted to start a thread were we can thank any soldier past or present here in KY CHAT that we have as members in our group. Yesterday I was shopping for a disabled Desert Storm vet when I saw a sticker on a car in the handicapped area that read VIETNAM VETS ARE HEROES TOO. I was not alive when that war was going on but my parents were and I have heard tales of the war all my life and it still hit me like a brick to see that sticker yesterday. I cannot imagine the hurt and disappointment those soldiers had when they came home from that war. I don't know if people back then didn't take into consideration that those guys were drafted, they did not volunteer to go, they were forced to go. So I have a really soft spot for soldiers from that specific war but I wanted to let all soldiers here in KY Chat know that I appreciate the time you put in to do what was necessary to bring peace and freedom to our country and other countries too

AMEN to that cuba. I was around then and the way some people treated the returning soldiers was horrible. Like you said, they didn't volunteer they were drafted! They didn't have a choice! So, on this 4th of July "Thank you" to all the KY. Chat men and women who have served this country!

All soldiers, no matter if war time or not, have my respect. It takes commitment to leave the comfort of home and family in order to serve your country. Salute to all service members.

I left my senior year of high school in 72 and enlisted. The funny thing, a few months before I was at a peace protest in Frankfort.
But, I made it 24 years.
Reckon I was more of a war monger, lol.

Thank you Shawnee & Dagger! I'm with lil irish...all of our soldiers deserve our thanks and respect...for the tremendous sacrifices you made and many are still making because of injuries and ptsd. I know quite a few with ptsd.
Those certainly were confusing times. I've been realizing lately just how young and naive the hippies were and, yet, they had such a huge impact on our nation. They did a great amount of damage...

Anyway...PEACE OUT BROTHERS!

It was a good time/era though. Rather have the hippies demonstrating, spitting at us and throwing bottles than the socialist libertards run this country now. "Bird is the word" (utube it)
