In this area it is extremely rare to find a building that allows dogs larger than 25-30 lbs

Most places in my area will not allow pets either unless they are caged like hamsters, mice, or birds and they also allow fish but no dogs or cats which I think sucks unless they are service dogs and they will make some exceptions with doctor excuses.

A house... I have 2 large pits and a apartment would not be enough room for them or any other large dog.
