Just got back from a trip to Africa...never dreamed I'd ever go there. I even managed to climb up the mountain to meet the gorillas! Now I'm working on an Asian trip with my grandaughter next summer. I got the bug bad!

Just like before in our other post...
"Garmisch-Berchesgarten is a bit overrated IMHO. There are soooo many tourists and a valid German tourist trap. Although that massive church cuckoo clock in the town square is gorgeous and a source of amazement. You should take a look at nearby Innsbruck, Austria. It is by far a very scenic place and the Alps have alot of grandeur and there is something about visiting places with granduer...it's good for the soul, good for the spirit."

I have a few trips that Im dreaming of doing!
1) Travel the silk route
2) Bike from Cairo to Cape Town, and do all the interesting things in between like seeing the mountain gorillas in Rawanda and klimbing the Kilimajaro.
3)Camp in the Amazon! Learn survival skills, hopefully avoid malaria.
4) Live on the cruise ship "The World" for 1 year
5)Mt Everest!
6) Road trip from Alaska to Chile.
7) Scuba the Great Barrier Reef

In all honesty though, I really wouldn't mind going back too Afghanistan and really seeing the natural, beautiful scenes it has to offer once the war is over. It was a rugged, hot and cold place with extreme temperature differentials. It has places much like our Arizona desert coupled with the Khyber Pass which reminds me of the mountains around Colorado or Montana. Too bad the war is ongoing there. Otherwise it would be a gorgeous place to visit and go fishing with a real fishing rod. We got our trout the old fashioned mil-spec way when I was there.

It's great to have found this travel forum! I'm still finding my way around DH.
My dream trip would be to live in Europe again, and have access to all the places I didn't get to while I was there before (which is almost everywhere!). I was working hard and could only manage the occasional extended weekend trip, and loved every one of them. I learned so much from the different cultures not only about life in Europe, but about how America is seen by the rest of the world (thank God Bush is almost gone), and how I am as an American and citizen on this planet.
I'd also love to go back to cruising on a sailboat. It is my first love, and the lifestyle and natural way to explore the world is just about perfect (when the weather holds).
I just want more! The urge, no necessity, to travel is permanent. I've been able to learn to explore my immediate surroundings when I can't get further, and that's a pretty good way to help keep up the explorations.

I have been to Italy,Germany,Switzerland,Austria,France and Luxembourg and most of these United States. I would love to be able to buy a camper and just travel the US Stopping when I wanted to, staying as long as I wanted to in each place. So many places I didn't get to see.

I went on a boat trip down the Douro River between Spain and Portugal. The scenery was beautiful and the wineries and food were fantastic. So were the cities we stopped at in Portugal and Spain.

My "dream trip" would likely be a lengthy trip around the world, that allows me to visit a variety of different places, experience a variety of different cultures, view a variety of different landscapes and geographic areas, and see a variety of historical sites reperesenting different areas and different cultures.

Not really so much a dream trip...just a few places Id like to go to before I leave our planet....The first one is to go to Vatican City in Rome Italy to listen to the pope give mass on either Easter Sunday or Christmas Morning.
The second one is going to Carnival in Rio De Janeiro Brazil. One of the greatest shows on earth. Happens every Feburary.

I would love to fly back to Scotland and do the trip I did in 2000 just stay longer---I stayed in Mostly B&B's and a few hotels and farms too-rented a car drove all over the place-top to bottom,

I have always wanted to travel to Egypt to see the pyramids in person. I'm quite the history buff and would love to visit Greece, Italy or Spain. Just to bask in the history that surrounds those places would be intoxication. It would be like being a little girl again seeing things with my eyes wide open as in my youth.
In the North America's it would be an adventure to hike up the mountain and see the ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru. Treading on the footsteps of a great civilization would be a dream come true. Lynne

I have never ever been to Paris...would love to go! also to Amsterdam. My mom is dutch, and I have family there, and i know its really nice so would love to stay there! Rome was beautiful, want to go back there, and to Barcelona! Then go back to Nice! go to Monte Carlo at night thats my dream trip lol.

I could say the obvious,like hawaii,the carribean or Italy but the place is not as important as who you are with.That being said, Id love to go anyplace romantic with someone special to me.A long sailboat ride or a cruise ship where I could be pampered.
