anybody believe in food detoxes?

Water detoxes?

Or simply drinking tea that promotes detoxing?

I picked up this Yogi detox caffeine free tea only because the flavor sounded good. Which it is amazing.

But has anyone seen any personal benefits from detoxing or believe in it?

As far as I know, the concept of detoxing the body by consuming or abstaining from certain substances of foodstuffs has no scientific basis, apart from protecting the manufacturers of popular detox themed products from the toxic effects of bankruptcy.

This doesn't apply to alcohol or recreational drugs, where there are positive benefits to be gained from abstention if those substances are being consumed in excess.

I've seen some studies where certain herbs and whatnots aid digestion and cleansing.

I don't believe a detox is going to rid me of that cheeseburger.

But an extra kick in the colon? A little extra help? Makes me curious.

A don't see how the tea can 'hurt' Yanno?

I definitely don't know that I agree in starving or only drinking water or only eating applesauce for a week.

Detoxing makes me wonder about the problem first - the toxins. Then after that, I think of prevention, rather than over-exposure(or over-indulgence) and cure.

I personally drink green tea frequently during the week. I had started to because of its antioxidant properties, and it remained a ritual or habit.

I know that we all eat 'bad' things from time to time. But I also believe in the how amazing the human body is. It's ridiculous to believe 26 years of toxins have accumulated.

The more I read about this stuff, it's like thinking of a detox as antibiotic ointment on a wound. Just helps the body do what it can already do on its own more quickly and efficiently.

The closest I ever got to detoxing is two different preps for colonoscopy, and you don't get any cleaner than that, but did not feel betters or that it did anything lasting for me. The Doc was a friend so I watched the whole thing live on a big screen monitor.

Trying a new approach when it comes to what you consume could always give you unexpected benefits. Only advice there would be to make sure you're taking in enough vitamins and minerals to keep you fueled during workouts. I've made that mistake before.

Coffee enemas are one of the best ways to clear toxins through the bowel. Once weekly is recommended for a generally healthy person. Used in holistic therapy to cleanse the gallbladder and the liver and rids toxins in the gut. It also can deplete electrolytes so lytes should be replenished.

I don't think I could do a coffee enema. I saw some crazy people on TV who do it up to ten times a day.

They are nuts. People on chemo only do 6 a day. I wanted to do them on my husband to reduce his ammonia levels in his system so I checked into them. I think I may start on them because of all the chemicals in medication that are not getting filtered out. My body naturally is slowing in processing and it needs a boost.
