It's amazing what a half bottle of wine or fifth will make your mind do...

I'm happily sitting on.my deck grilling and enjoying the night air, a nice glass of wine and listening to the sounds of Spring....all except this one damn bird that has the most annoying chirp or whistle....I found that SOB and wish I had a pellett gun...

What you thinking after that glass of wine or shot???

Well, I can't drink right now because I just had a root canal but I am on Vicodin so that's good.

I don't know why I'm so uptight about turning 50 in a few days - I guess it's just a mind-f**k to be leaving the 40s behind. Hell, when we were kids we thought people in their 30s and 40s were OLD. I can't even remember what we thought about 50 year olds.

Hi Wanda!

Thank you, sweetie! Yes, I was deliberating on which weekend to celebrate the birthday and then the root canal kinda knocked this weekend out of contention - so next weekend it is.

I saw you say something about being at the beach that weekend?

Oh you don't have to tell me - I lived in Panama City for a few years - love the Gulf Coast beaches.

Well, it would sure be good to see you if you can make it but I know that life is demanding for us single parents.

We are all in a fantastic age group....Very wise and aware of life's little tribulations....I love my age and look forward to life's new adventures.

You 45 and up men are very very appealing to us 45 and ups...but your looking for that one fantasy 30 year old...So have her and come on back to those women you can have a very mature and intellectual conversation with.. you....(you noticed I spoke in a defensive tone to discredit any young ladies that might make me feel "old)...

I feel your pain Jeff OMG, it is unreal, it is almost like I am counting the days. But if you mix a drink or a little wine with that vicodin I do know that will make you feel better! My "almost" 50 years have told me that!

I take exception to that - I can't even imagine being with a 30 year old. Maybe because my daughter is almost 24 - maybe just because I feel like conversation would be like pulling teeth...either way, the thought is just not appealing to me.

My sisters 50th birthday party was tonight. I was drinking scotch and Carmel Vodka with Apple cider. When my nephews 30 ish friends crashed the party at the end of the night I was thinking. 'Get the hell out!' We were trying to clean and they were doing shots. I feel old ...... And annoyed .... Shitheads ruined my buzz....

Was having a drink and appetizers with my son..Kinda flirting with the single manager and found out some interesting facts about tequila ....

Tequila is from a blue colored cactus only grown in a small area in Mexico called Tequila ...

The better tequila is from cactus 6-10 years old...and most are 1-6 years unless you want to spend hundred of dollars..

Patron is a Tequila Mexico tequila imported to Nevada and distilled with US distilled water and marketed as a high quality tequila..

Teqila is best served at room temperature like cognac...and old Cognac barrels are shipped to Tequila Mexico to make tequila.

And in this mans opinion...the best tequila in Don Julio Ange'ra...

And of course I sipped on ever sample he poured while teaching me about Tequila..

Now I'm buzzed and enjoying sitting outside for a 2hile..

Wheeeeeeee...I'm happy..happy...happy...

I'm sure that your manager friend is much cuter than I, but he is mistaken on a lot of facts. Tequila much like champagne, can only be distilled in a particular region, in this case, the Tequila region of Mexico. That is where Patron is distilled.

Technically, blue (Weber) agave is a succulent, like the aloe vera plant. Most agave is harvested between 8 and 12 years, then the heart (piña) is roasted to convert the starches to sugars. It is then mashed and fermented.

Tequila comes in three (actually, now, four) styles. Blanco (silver) is aged for two months or less, leaving it colorless. Reposado is aged between two months and one year, leaving it golden in color. Añejo is aged between one and three years giving it a richer, brown color, and a relative new-comer (approved by the governing body only about ten years ago) extra añejo, is aged over three years. All tequila is aged in oak casks.

There is also a fifth style of tequila, joven, but that is what the popular, crap (read Jose Cuervo) tequilas are. They get their color from colorants, not from aging, and most are not made from 100% pure blue agave.

While the "best" tequila is a matter of personal taste, I prefer Patron over Don Julio. I have worked for both companies, so I have no axe to grind here. Then again, I also prefer blanco tequila. Patron blanco has a nice, peppery flavor that I really enjoy.

Your friend was right on one thing; tequila is best served at room temperature, no salt, no lime, no ice, just tequila (and you don't "shoot" good tequila).

Wondering why they haven't marketed a collapsible tomatoes cage...Kinda like that collapsible leaf bag holder that twist down to the size of a large frisby....I'm Not wanting to buy one of those 3-4' tall metal ones then have to find somewhere to store it...
