I wanted zero debt, a comfortable life, happy with happy kiddos, and maybe someone to love. So I guess it's where I'd like it to be..but then again that's all based on my choices..so knowing that I just try to do the next right thing and live each day with joy. Past that who knows

My home, car, and everything else with the exception of a now minor college loan I took for my youngest daughter has been paid off for a while, I have a comfortable income. Illness threw a monkey wrench into a lot of my plans for my golden years, but that hasn't affected me anywhere near as badly as it did my ex! Time and events are not a constant, I was aware of that and mentally prepared for it, shit happens, be happy and comfortable and adjust! " Since we are all trying to find someone being on here and dating have you found what you were looking for when you started this journey??? " I perhaps be an exception to that? I am not looking. It's not practical for me, way more work and effort than I care to, or could hope to expend. I knew eventually it would happen, so it isn't a big concern, I have always managed to stay happy, alone or not. With the exception of my son (26) my kids are grown and out in the world. Mini-me may always be here with me, he also seems perfectly able to find things to do that keep him happy. Like me he seems to have found relationships a struggle, more interference than reward, but that is probably subjective to us all? I still dream, but they have changed, adjustments for the reality of my situation. If they happen fine, if they don't I am still going to be happy, or dead!

lilod Aurora, IL 50, joined Aug. 2012	Both, in a sense. I had certain things that I wanted to do in life when I was a teenager, and I'd done them all by the time I was in my mid-thirties. But, they didn't combine quite the way I anticipated. For example, in my youthful vision, I was going to keep practicing law when I had a child, but I ended up taking an entirely different direction that allowed me to stay home with her more, and expanding my career horizons. Now, I have a life that always looked appealing to me but seemed unrealistic. As far as dating/relationships go, I never had any goals or imagined any particular future.

Family life was short lived, kids are around but not close as was the dream. My career was about as the dream just didn't foresee closing out the career by teaching it. I own little, a bout with cancer a while back put all properties in the heirs name, with usurer. I'm still vertical so guess it's all good. Dreams now days, sometimes not so good.

So I didn't grow up. Now I am old and get to be a starving artist and starving writer. I found someone for a while. That didn't work out either. Maybe my next life will be better.

gothygoogoo Red Bluff, CA 59, joined Feb. 2015	you have no idea how close you are to facts bud!!! right this second if i wanted to - i know a guy and his wife and kids that want to rent from me - they are mexican too!!! this place is a dump and they would have to do a bunch of painting and some rewiring and calking - LOL they know all that - have been here a couple of times - and love the place - i think they would take relatively good care of the place too - but i would have to have someplace to live - and so far have not managed to have a nice camper or rv given to me yet... which i could live on at the same time they rented the place from me - and travel when i wanted to... and while i was out traveling i could rent my camper out to other mexicans too!!!

I don't expect anything that great to happen but i won't allow myself to close my heart to the possibility. I don't think you can look to far into the future. It's not ours yet. I am grateful for what i am and have right now. If i can't be happy now i believe my future will be a result in that. the beginning of your future is right now.

Ann… I have a swing, a glider an oak rocking chair and a metal rocking chair - all on my porch with the waterfalls and the pond less than 5 feet away and a water feature sitting on the porch less than 3 feet away… Jer… my storage shed and carport just need me to re roof them and I could do what I did about 10 years ago and put straw bales around the carport and run power up there and I could live in the shed and carport! I had a guy rent from me for one winter and that’s what we ended up doing and it was a trip - he loved it!

I ended up taking the walls down and part of them went to mulching the garden and part of them were used to grow potatoes and start mulching an area next to the entrance so I could grow bulbs and others plants on the gravel I put down so a semi could back in without a problem... After all these years, you couldn't tell there had been 10 or more straw bales in that spot - the CA sun bakes the living crap out of the soil around here - and I have not been able to add to it the way I have always wanted to...

I have four wonderful kids..and one awesome smart 2 yo granddaughter..just like her father..he has it comming. Ive driven many nice cars and had two houses, one I still have but live in a townhome. Im blessed and i didnt come to date. I can't complain and if i go out this world still single(meaning never married again) Im with it.

gothygoogoo Red Bluff, CA 59, joined Feb. 2015	Things are not always what they seem... Yesterday I had to bury 4 of my chickens because they died from the heat! The fifth one I did not have to bury because the dogs managed to rip a board back enough to grab one of them and they ran off and ate it. I already had a hole dug for a tree up above and so since the ground is concrete hard I prepped the hole a little and dropped the birds in. It took me over an hour to deal with that and it is 100 plus degree heat too! So I get back in the place and am trying to cool off...take more aspirin and grab a beer and i'm sitting here reading the threads and happen to notice that a BUZZARD had landed on the very bare spot I just filled with dirt!!! SO... I had to go out and dig dirt out of my pile into 5 gallon buckets and haul them up to the spot - 6 buckets later...and over an hour to do so - I then grabbed part of the vetch and weed pile I had cut and piled to compost down and threw it on top of the spot! No more buzzards! Then last night I am out adding more food to the hummingbird feeders and happened to notice a movement below me - guess what I saw within two feet of my bare sandle clad feet??? A 2 foot long rattlesnake!!! It only had two rattles but it caught my attention and when I was standing there looking at it - I decided that since I had sandles on - I was not going to stomp it's head like I would have if I had been wearing my work boots...by the time I grabbed one of the kids pitching wedges - and got back to where it was - it slithered on under my greenhouse! The kids and I were just talking two days ago about how we had NOT seen a rattler out here for over 7 years!!! (Cue twilight zone music) You know something Ann...if it weren't for the stress that the real world puts on me and my world...I think I should be happy... Guess I just don't know it...

It's sometimes hard to keep a "Stiff Upper Lip" and keep moving forward! But, like breathing, it's not someting I wanna stop doing right now...

I married young, and was married a long time. The end of that era was difficult for me, but I am very happy now. Life, to be cliché’ is truly a journey. I’m more financially secure than I have ever been, and love my kids with all my heart. I’m in a relationship (going on 7 months now) and truly enjoying it. I would have to say, I’m grateful for what I have and hopeful to keep my health as long as possible as the years roll on by…. My dream will never die! There is always more to hope for, and experience!
