do you have a humidifier or dehumidifier, or soak the filter in your AC unit in some type of stuff, or as the Goob said, put some laundry sheets in the ac filter, they will definitely do it,

i think you'll just be sitting a a place that smells like a drunk who swished with mouthwash before he drove home. While you are still swatting mosquitoes.  Wear insect repellent. It works.

A couple of things which will cause hot grease to pop and splatter is water droplets or high concentrated moisture pockets in items being cooked.  
NEVER USE WATER on a kitchen grease fire. 
Methods to extinguish a grease fire:
1. Eliminate the Oxygen source by SMOTHERING the flame with a LID or FIRE BLANKET.
2. Throw BAKING SODA on small grease pot fires.
3. Use a CLASS'B' chemical fire extinguisher.
4. Be sure to SHUT OFF ANY HEAT SOURCE as soon as possible during/after fire (e.g. stove eyes, oven, electrical lines).
*** Never attempt to remove a burning grease pot because popping/ splattering/flames will most likely cause you to drop the container and expand the fire.
