On how to give a big dog that is afraid of water a bath?

My Husky hates a bath. I get him in the tub and run the shower, sit on the edge of the tub, and lather him. To them, I suspect it feels more like rain, and rinsing them is a lot easier.

Take it slow getting the dog use to water and get some help. Otherwise take the dog to a groomer. Good luck..

I don't think it's fear of water, as much as it is the dog being "alpha" over it's owner.
The dog has decided that it doesn't want to go into the water, wasn't "forced" to, and the problem has escalated.

She could take it to the groomer, but she will continue to have problems, plus, if the dog causes issues for the groomer and someone gets hurt, she may be liable. Just saying

As I said earlier, my Husky hates a bath, but while in the tub, the worst thing he does is hide his face under my arm.

My Huskies are also difficult.

My Husky is difficult, but thankfully not impossible.

He just sticks his head under my arm to "hide" and when it's over and done, he's happy as a clam. Fortunately, Huskies do not have that "wet dog" odor and since he's in the house, baths aren't needed as often. Brushing is another issue, though.

I love the picture, Herbie. How's the newest member doing?

Try baby steps like if the dog will get in the tub with out water and give a treat then the next time add a little water and give treat. get some help more than one person that way they dog is focused on the person holding the leash and the treats while the other is bathing them try to make it as positive for them as possible make it like a game that your playing with him but it is best to give the bath in a more confined area that way they feel safer if they don't have the room to move they are less scared. is from my experience with my dogs
