Guy tried to rob me near my apartment complex. Put a gun to my back and demanded that I empty my pockets. I kept walking.
He yelled "do you think im playing n**ger" and hit me in the back with the gun. He took a swing at my face with pistol, connecting and splitting my eye open a bit, then a second swing.
When I still refused, he yelled again "I aint playin" only this time I made a grab for the gun.
He f**king took off lol. I am now quite certain the gun wasn't loaded. I followed, but I lost him in the apartment complex.
I stood my ground, and came out ok. And to those who will spout "you could have died" I honestly would prefer death to meekly handing away what I work so hard to get.

Ladies would you prefer to date a man who stood his ground, or would you prefer a man who handed his stuff off.

I don't know how I would handle a situation like that if I were unarmed, or for than matter, armed. Even if armed you have to get to your weapon to use it.

I don't want to find out how I would react.

Gotta be very stupid or very desperate to try to rob someone.

Ah...good question.

While dating? If I were with a date I would have handed over what I had. Better to do that than to risk getting the person you are with killed for money or jewelry.

If a person wants to gamble with their own life that is their business, but don't gamble with someone else's life.

I would date the man who took mental notes of the assailant, handed over his stuff and then called 911. Of course there is no guarantee but the outcome tends to be better that way. I would wonder how he would protect me if he made poor snap decisions based on emotion.

Actually, most muggings at gun point are done with unloaded weapons.
That way, if they do run into someone who fights, or they are caught the punishment isn't the rest of their life. Killing or shooting someone gets a LOT of attention... and addicts know there's easier fish to fry than someone who fights back.
What really sucked is that my phone was dead and the initial strike knocked off my glasses.

Leaving your children fatherless, wife a widow, broken parents and family over $17 dollars and hurt pride doesn't seem illogical to you?

Actually, I had quite a bit more than that. I make very good money where I work.
But I had a similar circumstance in 2010 with 5 unarmed men who tried the same thing... a punch to the back of my head as I was walking home. I don't go down easily though, and they ran off as soon as I pulled my phone out and called the police. At that time I had $3 on me... so the amount isn't what matters.
No, I think my original statement holds. I'd honestly die before handing anything over.

I agree with Barry, you took a big chance and was lucky....no, these days most use loaded guns.

I guess if I was making that great of money, I might invest into a better place to live.

but in my younger days I faced a lot too and took chances to where I was lucky or skillful too. Several times.

and I look back and wonder how I made it thru those things that many times.

not all do.

Posted a proof pic. I lifted the medical gauze so I could take some pictures of it. The cops advised me to, and to keep them so once they find him, they can add to the evidence.
I doubt it is high priority though. Even it being felony assault, and even with a gun being involved, I walked away with no loss of property and very minor injuries.

OT:
You were very lucky and I'm glad you are ok . It could easily have been a blurb on page four," Man shot to death over $5." No amount of money or pride is worth your life.

I'd die to save someone else, but not for my wallet. I'd not want to date someone that takes unnecessary risks.

If I were with a man in that situation, I'd want him to hand over the wallet. If the situation then became worse anyway (i.e. We'd be shot to kill witnesses), I'd want him to get the guys gun and call the cops.

I don't carry large amounts of cash, nor anything that can't be replaced, with a phone call to cancel within seconds. Have fun using a card, that's cancelled. It's not even worth me raising my blood pressure over. I pay more attention these days, after the Russians moved their way south from NJ and NY after Hurricane Sandy.
