I personally know two licensed psychologists that are on staff here. Not on a client basis, but as friends. Neither of them have ever, even in the slightest way, suggested I needed therapy of any kind.
Have you shown them your posting history on DH ?
No, but I remember mentioning often encountering extreme resistance to anything Christian, biblical, or spiritual. They encouraged me to continue to share, but not loose sleep over it.
Why not invite them to join DH so that they can get familiar with your posting history? ..... who knows ..... they may help you by verifying some of the claims you have made ..... or are you afraid to expose this part of you to them?

"Before he was killed for his faith in Jesus Christ, Amin’s last known words were heard by local villagers:
'I can’t kill anymore. I found Jesus.'
Amin was a member of a terrorist group active in the Middle East. His squad was occupying a house in a village they had overtaken when Amin found a Bible. With nothing but time on his hands, he started reading, out of boredom at first.
But the Word of God gripped Amin’s heart.
As the hours passed, Amin realized that he could never be the same. He knew that what he and his fellow soldiers were doing in the name of their "God" was wrong. He knew he had to get out.
That escape never happened, because Amin’s squad discovered his change of heart and killed him. Only days into his relationship with Jesus, Amin was martyred."

It doesn't sound very plausible, because anyone reading the Bible, before ever they got to the Jesusy stuff, would be appalled by those chapters where Yahweh commands the Israelites to clear out the Promised Land by killing all the Canaanites, including men, women and children.

I don't know that a terrorist would be appalled by that
This fellow, Amin, may instead have begun reading the New Testament Gospels. Perhaps we will learn more when we hear back from my contact.
When we view the Joshuah's conquests, which had been commanded by God, we have to look at it this way. God wanted to preserve a special people for Himself, and to do that, He had to protect them. It was back in those days, kill, or be killed. There were few extended periods of peace, such as Solomon's.
The history of the world is filled with bloodshed. Would you say that the soldiers that were Christian, and fought, and killed Japanese and German aggressors, were wrong?

I'm not impressed by the argument that God/s can justifiably command a chosen tribe to wipe out other tribes, including women and children. Any tribe could use this argument to justify genocides and atrocities. As it happens, I'm sceptical that war stories in the Hebrew Bible really happened, due to how the scholarly view is that the Israelites emerged peacefully from a West Semitic background that included Canaanite culture. I think those war stories were campfire legends that the Israelites invented and eventually came to believe as factual.
The history of the world is filled with bloodshed. Would you say that the soldiers that were Christian, and fought, and killed Japanese and German aggressors, were wrong?
I believe war is justified under some circumstances, such as defence of one's own country, one's allies and way of life. The war against Germany and Japan was justified IMO.

More unsubstantiated propaganda from a christian propaganda mill?
And what may we expect to take from this tidbit walt? That christians loves their martyrs, already know this.
Why do you constantly post this type of garbage while ignoring factual evidence which disproves your sources authenticity?
Do you really think anyone would take you seriously when you constantly refuse to acknowledge opposing evidence?

Clarence, I did receive this reply from Campus Crusade For Christ, the organization from whom Bible Gateway got their story on Amin, the terrorist that was apparently killed for converting to Christianity. Here is their reply:
"This story came directly to us from a staff member who lives in the Middle East. He is in direct contact with a soldier that learned about this situation from the local villagers in the town where the incident took place. Unfortunately, I am not able to share any specific names or locations with you due to security guidelines - and obviously I don't have a news article to point you to.
"I will pray that God will open the eyes of the atheists around you so that someday they may also come to know Christ."
There is, of course, no "news link" that you had asked for.

That is called circular reasoning, and is not logical.
It also indicates you do not hold the promises of God in your hand, of eternal life.
Is this it for you? Is this all there is for you, anxious and fearful of your last earthly breath?

The report received about this man, Amin, was that he was convicted/ converted by reading a Bible.
Amin found something far more precious that that life he had led as a terrorist. He found pardon, and eternal life.
So may any of us. All we have to do is lean into what our hearts are telling us: "I believe. Help my unbelief." ~ Gospel of Mark 9:24

You can't verify documentation with something like Amin being killed, because it happened in a war torn area. Publishing names, pictures, etc., puts other people at risk, and is a security breach.
I would think you would understand that, JR.

That's as good of an argument as you can present? Amin was not in a court of law, but a war zone. And you know that. And because of Christians who post in this Forum, you know a lot of other things, too, about salvation, and how to find it. As the old saying goes, "You can lead a horse to water....."

Religious loons bet their lives on the accuracy of myths. It's tragic that so many in the world are ignorant and superstitious. They actually believe a f**king burning shrub spoke to some man named Moses. They believe Moses parted a sea, Jesus levitated to a cloud and the world was flooded, and animals around the world were on a single boat. F**king hilarious.
So to question any religious loon about their beliefs in things that have that no credibility is in itself incredible. Christians have a poor grasp on reality. If they did, they wouldn't be religious.

You have to have a very painful and very deep seated religious wounding from some source. Your parents? Perhaps an overly religious, and legalistic so called Christian church? God forbid, a homosexual molestation by a catholic priest? Only you know.
Whatever it is, God is aware of it. And one day, after you have vented out all your anger and rage, you may begin to be healed from that.

Amin well knew that his reading the Bible was a dangerous thing to do there. No one can force a person in his situation to read the Bible. He chose to with his own free will.

I personally know two licensed psychologists that are on staff here. Not on a client basis, but as friends. Neither of them have ever, even in the slightest way, suggested I needed therapy of any kind.
Have you shown them your posting history on DH ?
Peace

No, but I remember mentioning often encountering extreme resistance to anything Christian, biblical, or spiritual. They encouraged me to continue to share, but not loose sleep over it.

Why not invite them to join DH so that they can get familiar with your posting history?
They are both married.

So? ..... Many of the DH members are married and joined just to participate in the forums ..... that's no excuse.

Mental health professionals aren't mind readers. This is why pathological liars and psychopaths can fool even professionals, that is, as long as they don't screw up and get caught. For example, serial killer Dennis Rader, a church deacon was considered a pillar of the community.
Psychologists are particularly aware the hyper-religious operate in this way and therapy is complicated which is why special training for hyper-religious patients is often required.

Perhaps on staff means he's a patient.

It doesn't sound very plausible, because anyone reading the Bible, before ever they got to the Jesusy stuff, would be appalled by those chapters where Yahweh commands the Israelites to clear out the Promised Land by killing all the Canaanites, including men, women and children.
Seems to me that terrorist worth his salt would respect a god who gave that command.

In other words ..... this story was the result of hearsay ..... not from a direct source ..... from a staff member ..... who heard from a soldier ..... who heard from villagers in the town!
Boy ..... that is pretty strong evidence isn't it ..... try using this type of evidence in a court of law.
Right. And where do you get your information about high security locations, salty-walty?
Let's face it ..... not only are you delusional ..... you're a bloomin' idiot, Walt.
Oh no! Still that same old tired, boring psychiatric ad hominem???
Say it ain't so, Sail! Once again, just for the record .... where did your psychiatric credentials come from?
