"Someday you will be faced with the reality of loss. And as life goes on, days rolling into nights, it will become clear that you never really stop missing someone special who’s gone, you just learn to live around the gaping hole of their absence. When you lose someone you can’t imagine living without, your heart breaks wide open, and the bad news is you never completely get over the loss. You will never forget them. However, in a backwards way, this is also the good news. They will live on in the warmth of your broken heart that doesn’t fully heal back up, and you will continue to grow and experience life, even with your wound. It’s like badly breaking an ankle that never heals perfectly, and that still hurts when you dance, but you dance anyway with a slight limp, and this limp just adds to the depth of your performance and the authenticity of your character. The people you lose remain a part of you. Remember them and always cherish the Good moments spent with them."

Your post hit home with me today.
Last night, for the first time since his death, I attended a holiday function that was near and dear to our hearts. I found myself filled with peace - that I could return and not become a total basket case.
So many emotions - I shed some tears (Thank God, for klennex) but, most of all I'm glad I went and I did have a good time.
I describe it as an open wound - First, it bleeds uncontrollably - then it only oozes, scabs over, but always leaves a scar.
Last night, I had many good memories of US - and, for the first time in a very long time - I felt his presence. He lives in my heart - and, always will.

no words will help..dam that....my one cat helps as he,s huge and i hold an love him,and talk to him cause he loved my wife back a few years ago,an he loved on her etc..he,s only a cat but wont let me down in the hell of grief at times,as human beings have better people and things to do. people and kinfolks on facebook an places i thought would never let me down, but they do,an cause hurt and anger..........no words..and only god has words with actions, people are posed to uplift others with all means possible if real gods love is present..

Get away from those real close to you every once in a while , DATE go OUT be around NORMAL people! Get rid of the spouse old clothes (you don't need them but somebody does). Don't listen to church or family. Listen to your own heart. Go with you gut feeling. Etc etc

Show empathy or sympathy.
But don't insert your own grief into theirs.
