Many are faulty documented.
Many are fraud.
Many are cryptic, and can mean anything.
Many are lucky guesses.

Good topic.

There are over 300 Old Testament prophecies that were fulfilled in the incarnation of God in Christ. Here is the very first one, spoken to the possessed serpent in the Garden:

Genesis 3:15 (The Message version)

"God told the serpent: “Because you’ve done this, you’re cursed, cursed beyond all cattle and wild animals, Cursed to slink on your belly and eat dirt all your life. I’m declaring war between you and the Woman, between your offspring and hers. He’ll wound your head, you’ll wound his heel.”

Who is He that has crushed satan's head with one decisive blow? Christ, dying on our behalf, and then rising again!

In the morning, the body was 30 feet away, still writhing.

That is a picture of the defeated foe. It's head is mortally wounded, but it still--for a time--slithers about. Until one little word shall, at last, fell him.

As far as I know, the only prophecy that ever came true was Jesus predicting the destruction of Jerusalem. Do you know of any others?

Lots of wishful thinking there. Contact a Rabbi of Judaism and ask him about what their scriptures mean.

Hardly a prophecy, at a time when there was constant battles with all of the surrounding forces.

Christians sure do love their snakes don't they.

Pastor Jamie Coots holds a snake while Big Cody plays guitar in the background at his Middlesboro, Kentucky, church in an episode of "Snake Salvation" on National Geographic Television.

A Kentucky snake handler was bit during Sunday service at Mossy Simpson Pentecostal Church in Jenson last weekend and died shortly thereafter.

Here's a prophesy.

Handle enough rattlesnakes, and thou shalt be bitten.

So-called biblical prophecies are sometimes known history at time of writing that is retrojected into the utterances of a person who lived much earlier in time. Deuteronomy 28 is an example. Here, the author channels Yahweh as warning the Israelites that if they wh*re after false gods and fail to follow his laws they'll be carried away into captivity. Biblical literalists may believe Deuteronomy was written by Moses, but modern scholarship accepts that it was probably written in the time of king Josiah (649–609 BCE) and further redacted by later authors. The author of Deut. 28 knew all about the Babylonian exile and invented the prophecy to suit as part of the convention the biblical authors had of interpreting national misfortune (that would have happened anyway) as a punishment from God for sin.

Although many Christians believe the book of Daniel was written by an actual prophet named Daniel who lived during the Babylonian exile, scholars recognize the book as a composite of two parts. The first part of Daniel— 1 - 6 is like a reboot of the Joseph story, and portrays its fictional hero living during the Babylonian captivity, having swashbuckling adventures where he demonstrates to his captors the superiority of the Jewish God and finding favour with a foreign king due to his ability to interpret dreams.

The second part of Daniel has an apocalypse telling the tale of the Seleucid king Antiochus Epiphanes and his oppression of the Jews in the 2nd century BCE. Again, the stories are known history to the author, but retrojected into the prophetic utterances of an earlier figure - the fictional Daniel.

The Gospel authors engaged in a practice described by John Dominic Crossan as prophecy historicized. They ransacked the Hebrew Bible for verses and passages that could be used to make the life of Jesus appear to have been prophecied and used this material to help create his biographies. This why Matthew and Luke have two implausible and inconsistent stories of how Jesus came to be born in Bethlehem. The authors fabricated the stories to make it appear Jesus fulfilled alleged Messianic prophecies contained in Micah 5 and Hosea 10.

The Passion narratives were composed using Isaiah 53, Psalm 22 and Psalm 69 as source material. It's possible that little was known about the details of the crucifixion and much was fabricated. The concept of Jesus dying as an atonement for the sins of Israel/ humanity in general may have been adapted from material in the Torah such as the sacrifice of Isaac and the tradition of heaping the sins of the tribe on a scapegoat who is driven out into the wilderness and chased into a ravine to die.

Just a few hastily dashed off examples there. The Bible is rich with these connections. they aren't so much prophecies as endlessly redacted, recycled and re-interpreted ideas, although no doubt Christians would disagree.

Its sickening , because we can kill something , it makes us a messiah ?

Really ? Get over yourself . If he injected his venom , you'd be writhing in agony .

You're an animal , behaving as any animal would behave .

Can you swallow your pride , for a creature , that behaves as any other animal behaves ?

prophecy came from those who were moved by the Gods Spirit. Daniel was given knowledge from God to understand prophecy. and John was as well. then we have the other old testament prophets. prophecy is one thing that makes the bible the truth. everything so far has come to pass right on time

God told Jeremiah what was going to happen to his people he chose if they did not heed to is commandments. if you read in Deuteronomy God instructed Moses in addressing his people. he laid out a curse and a blessing. and because Israel did not take heed to that over and over they brought a cursing upon them. one being the 70 year captivity which Daniel and his 3 friends were part of. but God had a plan for Daniel.

this is one area of the bible i find very interesting

it all started with king Nebuchadnezzar and his dream of a great statue

Daniel, ch 2....

"Thou [Babylon King Nebbuchanezzar] sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.

"Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth."

Matthew 21....

"Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.."

As much as we would like to , we cant defy nature .

The relationships in nature , tell us more , than we THINK we know .
