The old man said:
Rise to your occasions
Take them seriously
Treat them with the respect they deserve in your life
They are yours for a reason
The boy said:
I don't even know how to make friends
How to talk to girls
How to play sports well enough
The old man said:
You must listen
You must learn
The value you place on your accomplishments forever defines you
Your reward will be yours once you understand this
The boy said:
You mean I shouldn't care about these things?
I shouldn't place "value" on them?
I cannot undo how I feel
The old man said:
No one is asking you to change
Own your desires but don't make them challenges
Make them assets
The boy said:
How do I do this?
How can I make something upsetting something positive?
The old man said:
You just started
You shared your voice with me
You identified your concerns
Now you will do this to friends
To girls
To coaches
The boy said:
I am scared they will laugh
What if they make fun of me?
What if they don't understand?
The old man said:
They likely will make fun of you
At least some of them
And then there will be some that will not
There will be a girl that admires your courage
There will be another lonely friend that sees in you friendship
There will be a coach that will want to mentor an honest young man
The boy considered this and then put away his fears. He now knew what he had to do. His fears were now his projects. They had meaning and he had hope. He stood up and went to go fix his life.

Lynn, I have noticed how considerate you are of people's work, here. It is a rare trait. And quite refreshing. I am complicated for I value measurable things but also can be serious in my views. A dichotomy of sorts. For I thirst for knowledge and new understanding but give no quarter toward weakness of spirit. Sorry if that's rambling.

I keep seeing these types of references, COC. I actually don't understand why you're writing them? Can you elaborate please? Are you suggesting there is something obligatory that requires me to write a certain amount of times? I come in when I can. The point of a thread is that they drift away when no one posts in them. I don't understand the purpose of your posts. I am not going to "delete my profile". That's absurd. Thanks.

Thank you for this post and your question. I have been wondering myself not only who is she talking to, but why? Even if there were a moderator here, whenever I see these words and others of hers, you are not breaking any DH rules.
