GOD IS THE STRENGTH OF OUR HEARTS

"My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content (Ps 73:26).

Although distress and pain is a reality both for the saved and the unsaved, it is God's design and will for the saved that we find complete fulfillment and satisfaction in Him ALONE! While it is true that we have real needs, may experience some real pain, real hurt and endure some real issues, we still must remember that we walk with a REAL GOD. We must never forget that God is greater than our emotions and desires, and It is His will that we find contentment in HIM, even in the absence of all of these. He alone is our Portion, our daily dosage of all things satisfying.

God will at times deprive us of worldly comforts to teach us that He alone (in the absence of things), is enough to fulfill and satisfy. If we have not yet learned that God alone is sufficient, these are indicators that we have yet to genuinely learn Christ. Though at times our hearts may experience pain, and our immediate needs may not yet be met, these delays should have no power over our hearts, because God alone is the strength of our heart--not things. When Jesus has truly become our Portion, we will have the contentment of heart to endure our delays with divine joy.

Prayer: Lord in this hour, bring your Church to a place where we are not looking for other people, places and things to fulfill or to satisfy. Help us to recognize that satisfaction and fulfillment is found ONLY in you. In Jesus name, amen.

Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
My greatest mistakes have been made in haste, when I didn't allow a little prayer time to consider what I was going to do or say. While discretion and understanding are acquired through learning and experience, they are also a gift from God. But this gift doesn't come on demand. It comes from patiently seeking, trusting, and waiting on the Lord's guidance and from longing to live for him as a person of character.

My Prayer...
Forgive me Father, for I fear that I am more often a "character" than I am a person of character. Forgive my selfish desire to play to the crowd. I confess that I sometimes try to be witty and popular, rather than being a person of discretion, understanding, and integrity. Help me please, dear LORD, to see through the temptation of haste and find your path to integrity. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

just felt the need to share this with someone.. when my husband died in 2006, my sons and his children met with the pastor to plan the funeral. since my husband had been fascinated with Noah and the ark, the pastor asked if we knew why, and my oldest son chimed right in and said " because the ark is the only place that only allowed 2 cats "..
yes, the pastor used that at the funeral.
