I would like to hear why this site is called date hookup? cause all that goes on here is chatting and joking silly stuff, bunch of people married or posting with there boyfriends

Date Hookup has never been a hookup place for me. (I'm not into hookups.)
This place used to be a very active friendship site with parties and get togethers. I miss all of the parties. (I have thought about trying to help revive the site. I don't choose to spend the time reviving it. 3 jobs, taking care of my mom with dementia, and a boyfriend.)

I miss my friends, but I have had to fight for stuff all my life. Most of the friends I've made have some alternative method of contacting me.
I moved out of my parents house last time year. (See my blog entry entitled a little about me. It explains why that is . Sort of.) In any case, I can't even afford name brand cereal. Let alone too many nights out with friends.
Plenty of us have verbally acknowledged the ever increasing death of this forum. The thing is most of us are too busy and broke nowadays to deal with the kind of childish bickering that often occurs on here.
In 2012, this place was my saving grace, though. Perhaps some day it'll revive itself. But all good things must eventually come to an end.

It certainly has worked for me! You get out of it what you put into it. Never had a date for years until I got active in the Forums and going to get togethers from them.

I am in GA & Alaska much of the year. The big problem with DH is the new owners are making it almost impossible for new people to join. They also own POFish but for some reason have chosen DH to experiment with trying to get new recruits to go to their pay sites so we have no new blood here!

Sorry, POF is not all that. It sucks actually. Maybe u should go to Ga chat meet ups. Or maybe just meet someone local. A lot of ppl are looking for relationships long term. If ur meeting that many ppl off of POF it looks like ur just in it for the f**k of it. Maybe not but when u say things like that, its how it looks js. The forums are a good way of chatting with someone also. U can learn a lot by the forums!

A high % of the members are on both Date Hookup and POF, plus a lot of the members have been on these dating sites something like 10 years. I been on Date Hookup 12 years, POF almost that long. So it's the same members over and over whenever you're on these sites. Some members ever have more than 1 profile posted on both sites. As long as these dating sites are free, I will stay a member, if I had to pay a fee then I would delete. These sites are a easy way to meet someone without leaving your house. I never had a problem finding a lady to date before posting a profile on these dating sites, guess they spoil a gentleman making it easy to meet someone without leaving his house. So they can be useful if you put a little time into your search.

Date stood up would be a pretty good name for this site. I too have been stood up a few times. Make plans for a meeting and the member not show up or answer the phone. Members will message you several times during the week and disappear during the weekend. Since being on here I only had 5 real dates, rest no shows. After I have had dates I felt as if I were used, for a trip to thrift stores, movies or a restaurant dinner, because afterwards I'm told we don't seem to have enough in common! I sit there and listen to the lady tell about all the dirt bags she met on the site and wonder how do I fit unto her number of male friends. Guess a member has to not give up and keep own trying to find a member who has common interest. Only then maybe things will work out from all the heart ache and effort searching the site.

Simply because most people forget the date part and are just about the hookup part. I pretty much don't put too much stock in this site as far as dating. I have met some of my best friends through the chat even though I don't post hardly at all any more. The people I have been lucky enough to meet back in the high points of time have been the most caring and kindest souls.
Maybe once I have my deck built I might think about hosting a party.

When I joined date hook up, I thought it meant a date and maybe .... Heck what it means is "pick a date (say may 13th) and we gonna hookup"...
So the " date" in hookup means a day in time..

Because back in the day the term "hook up" stood for something else. "hook up" use to mean to meet up for a date but now it means to meet up for a possible sexual encounter, I do believe. This is mainly because we live in a DTF dating era. When did this happen? Hell if I know.

You see someone close to you you think is attractive you message them and say HI I think your sexy would you like to meet me for dinner and get to know each other a little and take it from there? they respond with yes or no done its that simple.
come on people you cant learn anything about some one typing back and forth
talking face to face is the only real way to learn anything about someone you may or may not even be attracted to them in real life and fastest way to do that is meet people don't waste time messaging for weeks and then you meet them and there is not even an attraction or connection waste of time no wonder people on here been single for years,
if you meet two people a week every week! it still probably would take 6 months to find a good match for you so please put some more real effort in to it.
Ladies do you really want a guy who is on the computer trying to talk to girls in forums all day?????
