a long-time friend of mine is getting transferred to a new department where she works. the old dept gave her a farewell party today including cake. she posted the cake on Facebook with this comment, "Everyone help yourself, it is on the cabinets by the copiers near my desk!"
I could not resist but to comment, "there are actually 2 reasons I won't be coming by  . One of them may be a bit more obvious than the 2nd"
she lives and works in Pittsburgh, not exactly close by

Wednesday, his dad got a burst of energy and wanted to go up the street to his brother's for dinner. He used a walker. (Blew my mind that you have about 7 days to live and are able to go up the street!) It's normal. They get random bursts of energy.
Thursday, he could no longer walk and was using a wheelchair.
Friday, He could not longer get out of bed to use restroom and had a catheder put in. He would try to communicate but the words make no sense.
Saturday (today) He made it through the night.
Ron says he deteriorates about 10% everyday. They take turns sleeping in his room with him and caring for him throughout the night.
As a family, they really impress me. The 3 kids all are there and plan to see him through to the end together.
Today is Ron's birthday..bitter sweet day. Hard to celebrate yet fortunate to have one last birthday with his Pops.

Sad to hear.
But at least he and other family members had time with him before he leaves this world.
Unfortunately that wasn't the case with my father.

TY Blake..It is a blessing to get the opportunity to celebrate his life to his last breath. (Sorry for the loss of your father as well). Mine too passed unexpectedly.
We take life and health for granted.. I have begun to truly appreciate what both mean.
Hospice arrived today. He has anywhere from 2 hours to 2 days.. It's a story nearing the end.

I think he was diagnosed and passed in 2 months time.
Ron was there every step of the way. For Ron to say, his father's passing was a relief...I can only imagine what these last few days were like.
This chapter has revealed it's ending. A new chapter has begun.......

Found out that hospice is going daily to my Uncle James to take care of him. They moved down to Mississippi years ago. Wish I could afford to go down there now, see him and see how I can help my aunt. Past 15 years, his health has been deteriorating.

Sandi, I'll keep all of you in my prayers. I know I've mentioned my Dad to you. They gave his 2 weeks and he lasted two months but after watching the suffering he went thru the last month or so it truly is a relief they are out of pain and no longer suffering and in God's hands

Tuesday, a 20 year old friend of some of the teens I worked with who are now in their 20s died in a head on collision. A lady at church passed on Monday. My great uncle's funeral was Saturday. And that is just the past few days. Last week their were 3 funerals for people at church. 6 people in less than 2 weeks.
