Sterling, was a registered sex offender, according to a database maintained by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office. Sterling is listed as 5 foot 11 inches tall, 310 pounds, with tattoos on his left arm, right arm, and left hand. His status is now listed as “inactive-deceased.” Sterling’s offense is described as committing “carnal knowledge of a juvenile.” He was convicted on September 20, 2000 in Louisiana and released on October 3, 2004. Court records show the victim was a 14-year-old girl at the time of the offenses. According to the charging document on file in the courthouse, the victim’s mother had discovered that she was pregnant after taking her to the doctor. The document says that Sterling, then 20, had been dating the victim for about seven months and having sexual intercourse with her in her bedroom. The charging document says he admitted to the mother having sex with her daughter and exhibited an “I don’t care” attitude. Heavy.com is withholding the name of the victim and mother and all victims in the Sterling court file. According to the sentencing document in the court file, the judge gave Sterling 5 years of hard labor in the Louisiana prison system, but then gave him credit for time he already had served and suspended the balance of the sentence, putting him on probation. He was ordered to pursue a GED or trade and to perform community service, among other conditions of probation, the sentencing document says. The case was then re-sentenced, and Sterling, who had pleaded guilty, was sentenced instead to 2.5 years of hard labor in the Louisiana prison system. The court file said he was accused of not registering as a sex offender or notifying authorities of his change of address, requirements of the law. Sterling Was Convicted of Domestic Battery in 2008 The court file says that Alton Sterling was convicted of domestic battery in 2008 against a member of his own household. Heavy.com is withholding the victim’s name. According to the court file, Sterling also pleaded guilty in this offense, which occurred on March 11, 2008. In a 2008 domestic violence battery case, the probable cause statement says that Sterling and her girlfriend were involved in a “heated verbal argument that turned physical” because he was on the phone with a female. The girlfriend said she told Sterling to leave the car but he wouldn’t, so he choked and struck her, the probable cause statement said. The statement said that Sterling denied physically harming the woman and told police she had grabbed his dreadlocks. The probable cause statement said red bruising was observed on the victim’s neck. In a separate case in 2006, Sterling was charged with two other people in a case involving a battery with a dangerous weapon. According to the court file, he was charged with aggravated battery, simple criminal damage to property, and unauthorized entry to an uninhabited dwelling. Again, Sterling entered a plea deal. In it, charges were amended to disturbing the peace, simple battery, and simple criminal damage to property. He was sentenced to spend 6 months in prison for each count, served concurrently (which means at the same time). In another case, Sterling was charged with a property crime: Simple burglary. Court records say he pleaded guilty in the May 2005 offense, which was amended to illegally possessing stolen property, a misdemeanor. He received 6 months in prison, but the sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation. If an unarmed man, or in the case of the baton rouge murder, a man who was not an immediate threat and was subdued, gets shot then instead of saying why did you shoot that man, they say let's go see if he had a criminal record. If he has a criminal record then now those people then say that he deserved to be murdered. Did that fact that he had a past run in with the legal system now make him worthy of murder? The goal is to marginalize the heinous act of the murderer and now make the victim the cause of his own death. To me , people who do this have a heart problem if not down right evil.

However I have a bit stiffer criteria myself. I feel that anyone whom is publicly employed in the judicial/enforcement of law that breaks a law no matter how minor should be processed with the same zeal and consequences as murder. Even a federal judge or the president him/her self should be held accountable with this zeal. If it is illegal jaywalk or spit on a sidewalk these individuals have to be held accountable to it. Not doing so totally undermines the rule of law as we are clearly seeing played out now.

Although this is true I don't believe it is quite that personaly intentional. This statement of ruling class and killer cops is true but it is systemic, making us all implicit and culpable. Interesting interview this AM on demoncracynow.org with a retired police chief whom was part of group meeting with Obama regarding the issue of police brutality and the chief's novel on it. Several times he used the description "young, impoverished, and oppressed" in describing the target of the brutality and discrimination. He is right not to name race. That is just a symptom of convenience and focusing on it inflames it and totally ignores the systemic cause. He is also right when he describes the stupidity on declaring a war on drugs, which is declaring a war on your own citizenship (at least the 80 percent more vulnerable slice of the citizenship), with the citizenship and aside from the arbitrary damage and costs to society, (tens of millions of incarcerations and the resulting diminished capacity of these individuals, and billions of dollars), drugs are more readily available, more potent, and more individuals engaging one way or another with illicit drugs. A complete societal failure but for a few individuals that have enjoyed fruits, enforcement employment. He is also mostly right when he says the majority of criminal cops were not so prior to being subjected to the police culture. Sorry the selfish authority trips begin with capitalistic practices for most about 3 to 5 years old but no doubt when as young adults they are then indoctrinated into the authoritative militia (them/us enemy) culture prevailing in American police forces with out any accountability, (protect our own/us culture), the result is a gang representing the advantaged and elite targeting the low hanging fruit for the money and the sporting status of awards, advancement, crowns and stature. "A house divided cannot stand" A. Lincoln, Jesus Christ, LORD God. Capitalism is the ruling class and it,(private property leveraged advantage) divides, divides, divides, divides....and conquers. The lawsuit was filed by former prosecutor and conservative activist Larry Klayman following the shooting of five police officers, five of whom died, earlier this month. “These (defendants) have incited violence and in fact have a direct link to what happened in Dallas,” said Klayman. “I hope that law enforcement in Dallas and around the nation will join our class action, it’s a peaceful legal means to fight this. We’ve had it. People are finally starting to speak out.” The lawsuit, seeking more than $2 billion in damages, accuses the defendants of violating the civil rights of law enforcement officers, promoting terrorism and aiding and abetting murder. “The defendants…have publicly incited people to violence with the fiction that police officers and other law enforcement are intentionally and systematically targeting and hunting blacks and other minorities to kill them for no reason other than racism or sport,” the complaint said. For that reason, Klayman contends, it’s no surprise that former Army reservist Micah Johnson stated a desire to kill white police officers following the highly-publicized deaths of two black men during police interactions. Defendants, the lawsuit says, have on more than one occasion called “for immediate violence and severe bodily injury or death” to be brought upon law enforcement officers throughout the nation. “Defendants are encouraging disaffected blacks and black Muslims to ignore, disrespect and assault law enforcement officials, and commit violence and lethal force,” the complaint says. Furthermore, the complaint alleges that policies from the Obama/Holder Justice Department have emboldened criminals with anti-police sentiment, suggesting that more attacks will occur. From the complaint: “Defendants Obama and Holder began almost immediately at the start of the Obama administration to undermine the nation’s police officers and other law enforcement when on July 16, 2009, Harvard University professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., was arrested at his Cambridge, Massachusetts home by a local police officer responding to a neighbor’s 911 call of men breaking and entering the residence. “Ignoring, as always, that the policeman was called by a report from the neighbors that a man was breaking in (Gates had been absent for a long time) President Obama stoked racial animosity by accusing the police of acting stupidly – after admitting he did not know what happened.”
