"Focusing federal enforcement resources on violent crime, not simple marijuana possession. Marijuana arrests, including for simple possession, account for a large number of drug arrests. Significant racial disparities exist in marijuana enforcement—black men are significantly more likely to be arrested for marijuana possession than their white counterparts, despite the fact that their usage rates are similar. Hillary will allow states that have enacted marijuana laws to act as laboratories of democracy and reschedule marijuana from a Schedule I to a Schedule II substance."
A president can't change the scheduling of a drug. The DEA is the only entity that can reschedule drugs. A president can add a drug to the list in emergency situations, but a president cannot move a drug to a lower schedule.
But it is a good way to get the support of people who are to lazy to research for themselves.

dw always seems to cut to the chase.
The reason we had stronger laws against "Crack", was that lots of "Crack" users were going out and committing violent ,crimes to support their habit.
I can remember when this law was being passed. Those who pushed for the law gave us lots of proof that Crack Cocaine, was the cause of a huge rise in crime in our cities.
When these laws were enforced, the level of violent crimes in our cities dropped dramatically.
No one seriously argues that the use of Crack Cocaine wasn't the cause of a lot of violent crime.
The argument from the left is that more blacks use crack cocaine, than they use other forms of cocaine, so therefore, laws against crack cocaine must be racist in nature.
Why is it that liberals support violent crime, or those who commit violent crimes, whenever they get a chance to do so?
The only logical reason is because liberals know that the less well informed mind is more likely to vote Democrat, and a mind that is in a cloud can be brain washed into believing their liberal dogma.
Criminals, like all liberals, want something for nothing. Criminals want the taxpayer to work even harder so that the liberals can get something for nothing.
You might counter that criminals steal money, while other liberals just rise taxes on the working class.
I would argue that no matter how the taxpayers money gets into your pocket,,, you are a criminal!

Aren't the DEA an arm of the Executive?
Don't know the details but the controlled substance act makes it very clear that the president cannot change the schedule of a drug. The process relies solely on the decision of the DEA.

The 1970 Controlled Substances Act, which created five tiers of restricted drugs, says the attorney general may "remove any drug or other substance from the schedules if he finds that the drug or other substance does not meet the requirements for inclusion in any schedule."
