Hello all.
I need advice from a fitness professional or a doctor or anyone who has been advised by one.
I want to exercise in the gym. I have arthritis in the knees. I am not sure which machine will be good and which one will aggravate the condition.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

I can only speak from my own experience but I've found the leg extension machine and the adductor and abductor machines useful for building strength in the muscles that support the knees. I had pain beneath the right kneecap while running which could well have been due to unbalanced quadricep muscles pulling the patella (kneecap) to one side and causing irritation to its underside. When my leg extension exercises were advanced enough that I could lift 55 - 65 kg for 8 - 10 reps the knee pain abated and I could run with no problem.
Strong muscles help to stabilize joints. Inactivity is the worst thing for them, so I'd advise you to do whatever you can in the gym to build strength in your leg muscles.

I prefer the use of eliptical machines. the rotation helps prevent the jarring on the knees.
