I've been reading all the gripes about how Trump supposedly sold out the government by convincing Carrier to stay. In thinking about it, I applied a little math to the situation. First of all, the government has yet to spend $1 on convincing them to stay. They'd get 7 million in tax breaks for ten years. $700,000 a year. Guessing that Carrier employees that retain their jobs, I estimate that they'd pay about $1000 a year in federal income tax, each. Times 1000 people, that's $1,000,000 dollars a year. Now, Carrier will need raw materials. Since that doesn't fall from the sky, a casual guess is that various suppliers will sell them goods to build their product. My guess is that roughly 500 people will be needed to do that. So, add another, oh $500,000 to the income tax paid a year. Then we have them wanting to spend 16 million on plant upgrades. So, add in, ohh,'bout 2 mil in more income taxes paid. So, by rough calculation, about 17 million will come into the feds coffers over ten years. And chances are it would be more just because wages may increase. Now, say Carrier up and leaves. That's 2000 employees going on unemployment. By the time they track down a new job, the government will be shelling out about 20 mil in tax dollars, inside of a year. Chances are, Carrier will end up walking away from that building, writing off that property. That tosses that plant and property into lala land for at least three years, and makes it property that taxes will never be collected on. Then the county that it resides in will attempt to sell it. Give that, oh, three years of being for sale, all the while, its generating no revenue for the county. Since the building wasn't designed for anything but producing product for Carrier, it's worth its weight in used toilet paper. Then the employees who were laid off may not make as much as they did at Carrier. So that means less tax dollars collected by the government.==================================================== My rough math on this is just pure guess. Do your own if you want to. How these incompetent boob liberals see this as losing money, is beyond my thinking. On the other hand, is isn't hard to comprehend why the fed is 20 trillion in the hole. $700,000 a year, lost, doesn't keep the them running for ten seconds. But that $700,000 puts at least 1 million coming in, and probably more. Must be why Trump is a billionaire - he know how to add.

I'm happy that people are still working but I don't like some companies getting better deals than others, government picking winners and loosers like solyndra and I believe carrier is a foreign company.
I prefer all corporate tax be lowered to less than 10% and almost all regulation left up to the states. Repeal NAFTA and put tariffs on products of companies or countries that have shafted us.

Like I said, it was just a little math that I applied to the few facts that I knew.======== Yes, I knew Carrier was moving to Mexico just to take advantage of cheap labor. Lincoln Corporation did the same thing in Quincy, IL. for the same reason. This was firsthand info told to me by my cousin, who organized their move. In order for them to pay their workers a buck an hour, they first had to provide lunch for them. They did. Then they couldn't get their workers to work on time. Enter bussing for the workers. Well that made them miss breakfast, so that was supplied for them by the company. It still made it cheaper for the company to be there. Obviously, due to cheap tariffs the company paid to import their goods, is why they did it. Oh, and by the way, after he did all of that- He got laid off.
