I love it!! McConnell is worried about a deficit?? Really?? McConnell is a major part of the problem. Why the hell do these kind of people keep getting elected?? This is just one more reason we need to have term limits for ALL elected offices.
Semper Fi !!!
From Joe For America:
We haven’t had a federal budget signed into law since 2007 and suddenly Republicans are worried about a deficit. Seriously? This is the kind of stupid stuff that just drives Conservatives nuts! McConnell himself helped create this swamp were in!
The last federal budget was signed into law in September 2007 for fiscal year ’08 by George W Bush. Since then, Congress has facilitated nine consecutive years of continuing resolutions, debt ceiling increases and Omnibus spending bills.
President Obama never spent a single day in office with a budget. Not one day. The current Paul Ryan initiated CR/Ominibus spending package ends on April 1st, 2017. [Not coincidentally the same due date for President Trump’s statutorily required first budget proposal, which would take effect October 1st 2017 for fiscal year 2018.]
Regardless of Trump’s budget proposal, and as a direct consequence of the CR/Omnibus approach, Congress is going to have to pass another CR spending bill, to fund government operations from April 1st through the end of the fiscal 2017 year (Sept. 30th). Remember, Ryan/McConnell created this financial mess.
(Via Bloomberg) President-elect Donald Trump’s race to enact the biggest tax cuts since the 1980s went under a caution flag Monday as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell warned he considers current levels of U.S. debt “dangerous” and said he wants any tax overhaul to avoid adding to the deficit.
“I think this level of national debt is dangerous and unacceptable,” McConnell said, adding he hopes Congress doesn’t lose sight of that when it acts next year. “My preference on tax reform is that it be revenue neutral,” he said.
Revenue neutral? Seriously? Excuse me, Sen. McConnell, but where were your priorities the last 7 years?
Trump pledged that his administration would put “millions of our people to work” by rebuilding highways, bridges, tunnels and other infrastructure. Trump plans to pump $1 trillion of new infrastructure spending into the economy — but done in a way that would not cost taxpayers.
What a concept! Add jobs! Reduce regulations! Cut spending! Not add any new taxes…can’t imagine why Establishment Republicans like Sen. Mitch McConnell would be upset can you?

Tom Coburn use to find hundreds of things the federal government wasted money on every year. It was always ignored. Some Republicans are wanting to back ear marks, which is just more wasteful spending for the winning side, if they do I hope Trump veto's it.
I've never liked McCain or McConnell and I'm starting to think Paul Ryan is just as bad.

I'm starting to think the same way. Ryan is too quick to flip his opinion on some issues.

U.S. paying salaries of tens of thousands of non-existent Afghan soldiers, police, teachers and civil servants
JANUARY 13, 2017 8:07 AM BY ROBERT SPENCER
“John Sopko, special inspector general for Afghanistan reconstruction (SIGAR), said the salaries of ‘ghost soldiers’ is just one of many ways Americans’ money is wasted in Afghanistan – all for rather modest gains.”
What gains? As soon as the U.S. troops are finally gone from Afghanistan, the Taliban will take over again. The whole Afghan misadventure has been a fool’s errand, a massive, ghastly waste of American lives, money, and materiel.
“Afghanistan’s ‘ghost soldiers’ take scary toll on US taxpayers, says watchdog,” by Perry Chiaramonte, Fox News, January 12, 2017:
The U.S. government is paying the salaries of “tens of thousands” of non-existent Afghan soldiers, police, teachers and civil servants, a top Pentagon official said Wednesday in reporting on the scale and variety of misspent U.S. money.
John Sopko, special inspector general for Afghanistan reconstruction (SIGAR), said the salaries of “ghost soldiers” is just one of many ways Americans’ money is wasted in Afghanistan – all for rather modest gains.
His comments summarize a SIGAR report that aims to help inform the new Congress and administration of the most pressing reconstruction challenges in 2017 and beyond. Sopko’s message was one American leaders have heard before.
“Including U.S. war funding unrelated to reconstruction, U.S. appropriations for Afghanistan now totals more than three quarters of a trillion dollars — not including the $43.7 billion requested for fiscal year 2017,” he said in a speech before the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C.
“To date, more than $115 billion of U.S. taxpayer money has been spent, sometimes wisely – too often not. Another $7.5 billion has been appropriated but not yet spent, and international donors have pledged to provide financial support to Afghanistan and its security forces through 2020.”
Despite the huge amounts spent in Afghanistan, conditions are deteriorating.
“As of Aug. 28, 2016, only 63.4 percent of the country’s districts were under Afghan government’s control or influence, a reduction from the 72 percent as of Nov. 27, 2015, Sopko said.
Afghan forces “are generally capable and effective at protecting major population centers, preventing the Taliban from maintaining prolonged control of specific areas and at responding to Taliban attacks.”
But the Afghan military, “a reportedly 320,000-strong force is basically playing ‘whack-a-mole’ following the Taliban around Afghanistan.”…

The military is the biggest area where Money is going to. Probably those funds need to be reduced, however, I'm not working in the military so I'm not willing to provide an answer there.
I am prepared to say a few things about the prisons though. All non violent drug offenders should be released and restored to full citenship including expunging the records. The war on drugs needs to end. Legalize marijuana. I don't say this because I want to use drugs, but lots of innocent people are in jail due to these bogus laws. Hemp is a valuable fiber, but illegal. Many people are locked up on conspiracy charges just because they know someone that did something illegal. Drug laws should be greatly modified and fines used for all those who break these laws. Make the war on drugs pay for itself with fines. Release prisoners and close prisons. Make private prisons equally accountable for their actions.
What if lawmakers are too busy profitting from the war on drugs to change the law? Inform everyone you know who is registered to vote about jury nullification. When juries stop convicting people of breaking these bogus laws, innocent people will stay out of jail.

I would agree to legalize marijuana but we know that's just a place to start legalizing all drugs.
Drug dealers are not "innocent people". they hook kids on dope and screw them up for the rest of their life. Drug addiction around here is the number one reason for child abuse, child neglect, child abandonment, poverty, welfare, adhd kids, spousal abuse, theft and violent crime. I don't call that innocent.
