the phrase "at hand" is nowhere to be found in the oldest Koine Greek text.
It is things like these that demote the KJV from a translation to an interpretation.
True, the phrase "at hand" is not in any Greek text...
The Greek "eggus - G1451" which "G1448 eggizo" is derived from has the following meanings from the Scott-Liddell Lexicon:
Idioms
43.
at hand,
within reach; nearby; close by.
near in time; soon.
ready for use:
It's seems for the sake of "argument" bigVD9832+ is getting "out of hand" in his dispensational desperation..
The more bigV rants the more eggus he gets on his clock face...

What is he claiming the words are then? According to this, it or a variation is found 42 times in Scripture. Is he claiming it as virgo moon, or as big d?
Using his bigD pro.
This from the Collins Thesaurus for cinnamons for "at hand"..
https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english-thesaurus/at-hand
A synonym is a word or phrase that means exactly or nearly the same as another word or phrase in the same language. Words that are synonyms are said to be synonymous, and the state of being a synonym is called synonymy.
"at hand" is a perfectly good synonym for near, people know what it means unless they are ESL.
The NASB uses it along with others:
Matthew 3:2(NASB) “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven [a]is at hand.”
Footnotes:
Matthew 3:2 Lit has come near.
He's got some kind of CLV fetish..

Didn't I say this in my thread There Is No "Hand"? Perhaps he is trying to imperesonate an echo?
No impe-resonate happening...maybe biglet is doing a broke clock imperesonation...
At least a broke clock is right twice a day - not ol' biglet though...
There are no English words in the Greek text including "at hand"...
And getting madder by the second...tick tock tick tock...
Just another melting moment from the bigHand...

The bigHand definitely can't read - I previously had a thread about futurist's ignoring the imminence statements in the New Testament.
So true to form ol' biglet "mad as usual" has to post comments from his idol A.E. Knoch's "commentary" of errors as some kind of authoritative "rebuttal":
https://DateHookup.dating/thread-1432229.htm
Knoch made no comment on the one particular verse I brought up which demolishes his and all futurist "theologies":
From biglet's thread:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(1 Pet 4:7 KJV) But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
1 Pet 4:7 (CLV) Now the consummation of all is near. Be sane, then, and sober for prayers.
What biglet has done is he's failed to notice that Knoch has not commented on verse 7 but only verses 5 and 6........
Biglet is trying to pass off Knoch's comments on verses 5 and 6 as applying to verse 7...
This difficult passage depends, for its interpretation, on the force of the interjected "indeed", which is usually omitted in translation. Even when present in the English, its force is not readily perceived. It must be evident to all that there is a turn in the argument, for the evangel is not the precursor of judgment from God, nor is it according to men. This judgment, then, is not God's but man's. Men judged them according to their own standards. They are judged, "indeed", but not in the judgment of the living and the dead just mentioned (:5). The next statement, that they should be living according to God, makes it evident that the evangel was not preached to them after they had died. Men could not judge them, in flesh, nor could they live according to God, in spirit, after they had died. They are dead now, but the preaching and judging and living were all apart of their experience before they fell asleep.
A. E. Knoch
Among the many tenses of the Ancient Greek verb is the "voice" tense. And Ancient Greek voice can be "active' or "passive." It might even be a "middle" voice.
Basically he is saying that according to men the Consummation is near. This is NOT prophecy.
Ol' Knochlet has completely ignored verse 7 as it contradicts his and other futurist "theologies".
This is NOT prophecy
What is it? A guess then?
James 5:8 (CLV) You also, then, be patient; establish your hearts, for the presence of the Lord is near.
(James 5:8 KJV) Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
(Mat 24:3 KJV) And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
Peter stated the end is near, James stated the coming (parousia) of the Lord was near.
This contradicts Knochlet's and all futurist "theologies".
Next the bigHand is gonna put his big foot down and quibble over the definition of parousia..
Yup....he mad
In his own words - "bad breath...bad research"....
Make sure mommy doesn't get eggus on yer face agan littleBigD...

In the bigHand's own words "Bad breath...bad research"..
Now the bigHand is trying to claim I said Adam Clarke is a preterist - I have never said that - although he would be considered a partial preterist.
Clark, at the time of writing was still expecting a "final second" coming of Christ in the future according to his A-Millennial Methodist leanings and possibly upbringing.
What he never said was the "coming in judgment on Jerusalem" spoken of by Jesus was in our future - he places that in the war of 66-70AD.
While the bigHand thinks he knows what Adam Clarke said in an attempt at refutation of my posts he's wrong once again:
CLV Mt 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of Mankind in heaven, and then all the tribes of the land shall grieve, and they shall see the Son of Mankind coming on the clouds of heaven with power and much glory.
Matt 24:31 "And He shall be dispatching His messengers with a loud sounding trumpet, and they shall be assembling His chosen from the four winds, from the extremities of the heavens to their extremities.
Notice how these events are all presented to us in the future tense?
Of course they would be they hadn't happened yet..
He then presents a screen shot of Adam's comment without the red underline and box of course:
The bigHand then posts this:
Again, all of Clarke's comments are presented as future tense. According to Clarke, Jesus has not come yet.
They aren't presented as future and Adam is not dealing with the supposed "second coming" of Jesus here at all at all.
Read on Mr. Duff:
"The plain meaning of this is, that the destruction of Jerusalem will be such a remarkable instance of Divine vengeance, such a signal manifestation of Christ's power and glory.....many will, in consequence of this manifestation of God, be led to acknowledge Christ and his religion.....either its then inhabitants, or the Jewish people wherever found."
That was then....
If the bigHand had chewed some gum during his "research" he would have read Clarke's comments preceding verse 30 and those after and not jumped to desperately hasty conclusions.
The same applies to Clarke's comments on:
CLV Mt 16:27 For the Son of Mankind is about to be coming in the glory of His Father, with His messengers, and then He will be paying each in accord with his practice.
Verse 27
For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father - This seems to refer to Daniel 7:13, Daniel 7:14. "Behold, one like the Son of man came - to the ancient of Days - and there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, and nations, and languages should serve him."
This WAS the glorious Mediatorial kingdom which Jesus Christ was now about to set up, by the destruction of the Jewish nation and polity, and the diffusion of his Gospel through the whole world.
If the words be taken in this sense, the angels or messengers may signify the apostles and their successors in the sacred ministry, preaching the Gospel in the power of the Holy Ghost.
It is very likely that the words do not apply to the final judgment, to which they are generally referred; but to the wonderful display of God's grace and power after the day of pentecost.
Matt 16:28 Verily I am saying to you that there are some of those standing here who under no circumstances should be tasting death till they should be perceiving the Son of Mankind coming in His kingdom."
Verse 28
There be some - which shall not taste of death - This verse seems to confirm the above explanation, as our Lord evidently speaks of the establishment of the Christian Church after the day of pentecost, and its final triumph after the destruction of the Jewish polity; as if he had said, "Some of you, my disciples, shall continue to live until these things take place."
The destruction of Jerusalem, and the Jewish economy, which our Lord here predicts, took place about forty-three years after this: and some of the persons now with him doubtless survived that period, and witnessed the extension of the Messiah's kingdom; and our Lord told them these things before, that when they came to pass they might be confirmed in the faith, and expect an exact fulfillment of all the other promises and prophecies which concerned the extension and support of the kingdom of Christ.
Clarke is accepting Christ's words to return in the judgment and destruction of Jerusalem in the 1st century AD while still expecting a "second return" of Christ after that - this places this theology as partial preterist not full preterist.
Let's all give the bigHand a big hand - he does try...

Let's all give the bigHand a big hand - he does try...
I dunno.
Reading through all the threads on here, you have Urantians claiming what the 'spirit of truth "is, then there are the Pentecostals with all their prophets.
And whole religions have sprung up based completely on all this Psychic stuff.
And then there is BigD, who claims that any that do bot believe in his version of prophecy is not a Christian.
Mean while scripture says :
-Ecclesiastes 8:7 ?
New International Version
Since no one knows the future, who can tell someone else what is to come?
-Proverbs 27:1
Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth.
Matthew 24:36 ?
New International Version
"But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
Christianity is getting so wrapped up over their prophecy, we are closer to resembling the apocalyptic message of ISIS, than the teachings of Christ.
John 14:17-19 Amplified Bible (AMP)
17 the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (the Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you.
18 “I will not leave you as orphans [comfortless, bereaved, and helpless]; I will come [back] to you. 19 After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also.
Luke 17:21 ?
New International Version
nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is in your midst."
This is not enough though, sad.
