to answer: who knows?, there are a host of reasons this could be.
but for this particular woman, there is specific answer...that for now, only she knows.
here's a few idea's..
1) sex with one person, just isn't enough for her.
2) to get another guy lined up...before she bails from him.
3) because she see's you as the low down sleazy type who would mess with a taken woman.
4) because she wants to put the con job on you for a few trinkets, then dumb your a** after that and just not tell him.
