There you go again, deflecting, saying, "Oh, look over there, don't look at me."

Tsk, tsk.

Why don't you obey Jesus and stop calling priests, "Father"?

"Why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" (Luke 6:46)

Answer Jesus.

Why don't you obey Jesus, attend Mass, receive Communion, and return to your first wife? I mean, if you are serious about obeying Jesus.

then why is it you claim "we" must have good "works" also?

Doesn't that also mean your trusting in "your righteousness"?
If "your righteousness" isn't good enough you will not make it?

we do not need good works...

good works is a result of being holy Ghost filled with "blood" of Christ Jesus.

a sinner can do good things but those actions only reflect the sinner did good things.

when a Christian does good works it is supposed to reflect God inside you, not you doing good works

From the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ, we obtain the grace to have faith, have hope, avoid sin, and do good works worthy of a good God, a God Who is all good. Faith alone? Let's see what the Bible says:

"If you love me, keep my commandments."

--John 14:15 KJV

"For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and the he shall reward each man according to his works."

--Matthew 16:27 KJV

"But be ye doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves."

--James 1:22 KJV

"Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone."

--James 2:17 KJV

Why do YOU refuse to obey Him then?

Matthew 23:9 is a commandment from Jesus.

Instead of obeying Him, you essentially say, "Up yours, Jesus" every time you call a priests "Father." You are paving the road to your personality extinction.

"The wages of sin is death." Rom 6:23

And Jesus never said to "attend Mass" or to "receive communion."

People who go to Confession regularly don't need to confess their sins again to a psychiatrist.

People see psychiatrists are people who are unhappy. A nice old Catholic lady once gave me some very sound advice---if you want to be happy, stay in the state of grace.

You tried to change the subject, Lud. I never said anything about confessing sins to a psychiatrist. It's your mental illness issues that you need to talk to a head doctor about.

People see psychiatrists are people who are unhappy.

Who told you that? You are a very sick, ignorant man, Lud.

Well, that's just so nice, Lud. It's just ducky. But you can't be in a state of grace when you don't even love God enough to obey Him. You're kidding yourself.

The Catholic church does support Psychiatry.

You sound Pentecostal or Scientology there, almost.

I was speaking in general. Gor most people, if they follow the ten commandments, if they hope for Heaven, if they have a personal relationship with Jesus (which consists of freauent prayer, Confession, and Communion), if they put aside envy and grudges, will be happy enough that they don't need professional help. But there are sometimes special circumstances.

How can one man be as ignorant as you are? It's a mystery.

And "a personal relationship with Jesus" MUST include obeying Him, which you refuse to do.

That's a dodge, Lud.

What does your statement above have to do with "And "a personal relationship with Jesus" MUST include obeying Him, which you refuse to do."? You can't deny that you refuse to obey Jesus.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Judgment Day:
Jesus: Well, Lud, why did you refuse to obey me?

Lud: Jesus, did everyone obey you perfectly in every way?
--------------------------------------------------------------

Is that how you're going crack-wise with God on Judgment Day?

If I were you I'd think that strategy through again.

Quote from ludlowlowell:

It's none of your business, Lud. It's between me and God. But YOU, you clearly disobey and defy Him and you do it for all the world to see and you brag about it and you taunt and defy Jesus with your public prayers to Mary and other dead people, not to mention calling priests, "Father" which Jesus says not to do. You're right out there in public giving God the finger, you make your disobedience to God everyone's business.

Nor has anyone ever suggested that you need to "obey Jesus perfectly in every way." That's a strawman, red herring, "Oh, look over there" ploy. But you flaunt your willful disobedience.

Judgment Day:
Jesus: Well, Lud, why did you refuse to obey me?

Lud: Jesus, did everyone obey you perfectly in every way?
--------------------------------------------------------------

I already said how. You MAKE it everyone's business with your self righteousness and your public announcements of your praying to Mary and other dead people and everyone knows that you disobey Jesus when you call priests, "Father." This is all public knowledge. Normal people tend to keep their personal relationship with God, uh, personal. It should be between you and God. Telling everyone how devout you are, telling them how you go to mass and eat Jesus' flesh and drink his blood and how often you go to confession, is akin to an old man throwing his coat open and exposing himself. It's TMI. (Too Much Information) Nobody wants to know about it but you seem compelled to tell everyone. I think that's the nature of self righteousness, making sure everyone knows about all your good deeds and how pious you are, and so on. When one is self righteous as you are, you can't help but to make sure everyone knows how pious and holy you are. It goes with the territory. The self righteous make their situation known to everyone. They HAVE to tell everyone, as you do.

Mat_6:5  And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Every time you publicly announce your prayers to Mary, you are violating Jesus' admonition about about praying in public "in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets," not to mention Jesus' admonition to pray to God the Father, in secret.

I saw a bumper sticker once that said, "Self Righteousnes - The Unforgivable Sin"

Self-righteousness

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Self-righteousness (also called sanctimoniousness, sententiousness, and holier-than-thou attitudes[1][2]) is a feeling or display of (usually smug) moral superiority[3] derived from a sense that one's beliefs, actions, or affiliations are of greater virtue than those of the average person. Self-righteous individuals are often intolerant of the opinions and behaviors of others.[4]

The term "self-righteous" is often considered derogatory (see, for example, journalist and essayist James Fallows' description of self-righteousness in regard to Nobel Peace Prize winners[5]) particularly because self-righteous individuals are often thought to exhibit hypocrisy due to the belief that humans are imperfect and can therefore never be infallible, an idea similar to that of the Freudian defense mechanism of reaction formation. The connection between self-righteousness and hypocrisy predates Freud's views, however, as evidenced by the 1899 book Good Mrs. Hypocrite: A Study in Self-Righteousness, by the pseudonymous author "Rita."

You make your sins everyone's business because you are self righteous and you can't help yourself, like a flasher.

As far as I know, I don't disobey God. Nor do you know of any such thing.

And if the truth were known and recognized, you don't actually eat Jesus' body OR drink His blood. That's complete nonsense.

You eat wafers and drink grape juice. Face the reality. It's a grown up version of pretend, make-believe, like when you were a little girl, your mommy would dress you up in a nice frilly dress and set you at a low table with a play tea set and your little dolly in a chair on the other side and you and your dolly would pretend to be drinking tea like the grownups do.

John 6:63  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Either you are lying, or you are introducing another dodgy strawman, or you are unable to comprehend text, or you simply don't know what words mean.

I have never said anything about your "lack of righteousness."

Try to read what's been written and not convert it into what you want to argue about.

===================================================================================

So you're giving up on the "lack of righteousness" thing that you started and are trying to change the subject now?

Let's get back to this:
You said: You have upbraided me for my lack of righteousness.

And I wrote:
Either you are lying, or you are introducing another dodgy strawman, or you are unable to comprehend text, or you simply don't know what words mean. I have never said anything about your "lack of righteousness."

And now you're trying to change the subject. You're trapped in the corner you painted yourself into and you're trying a new way to get out. You are certainly a devious man.
