In about a month for now the NCAA Basketball Tournament will begin.
I have an exciting contest to offer to all of us here just for fun IF we have enough interest in getting enough players to participate. This is the same contest Las Vegas offers to the public with the same rules except they charge a $2,500 entry fee per person with the winner taking all since there will be no ties.
So, please state on this thread if you are interested in participating in this free contest within the next few weeks and if we get enough participation to make this contest worthwhile I will start a new thread and spell out all the rules.

I certainly hope that we will get more players to make this more fun for all of us who will be competing.

Just sign up since there is another team in your beloved conference called the SEC in basketball called KENTUCKY, that is, if you want to pick them.

guys, and ladies. once upon a time, i was a serious basketball fan, almost as much as my football fandom. you folks that have been around as long as i have know, my beloved bama has NEVER been a powerhouse b'ball team. i mean, only ONE sweet sixteen appearance, period. so my basketball allegiances have been spread out to say the least. yes tommy, i like kentucky and have hung my hat on them regularly. nowadays i dont keep up with it much, until tourney-time. i still watch bama, fairly regularly. i like avery johnson, he seems like a really good dude.
so, hows this thing work tommy? after the brackets are set, we pick the teams we think will win? or what?

Tater, If I remember correctly Mark Gotfried took Bama to their only sweet sixteen appearance and my NC State Wolfpack just fired him after he took them to two sweet sixteen appearances in his five years here.
As for the rules for the just for fun NCAA Tournament Basketball Contest I will be posting once the brackets are set you are correct about how it will work but it will be based on an advanced point system with points that we will all receive after each of us pick our sweet sixteen. In other words the deeper one of your sweet sixteen teams goes into the tournament the more points you will accumulate.
Just say you're in, and I hope you will be, and I'll spell it all out after the brackets are set on selection Sunday at around 6:00PM eastern time. This should make March Madness fun for all of us and I will update the current standings every week until a national champion is crowned.

You will have plenty of time to play on a level playing field in the NCAA Basketball Tournament contest. When all the teams that have been announced that will be participating in the tournament at 6:00PM (Eastern) on Sunday, March 12th, I will start a new thread that night titled 'NCAA Basketball Tournament Contest' and you will have until 6:00PM on Tuesday, March 14th to post your entry. I'll spell out all the rules for the contest when I start the new thread. Let's all have fun with this!

Silly, Since there are always a lot of upsets in the NCAA Basketball Tournament it takes a lot of luck as well as skill to be the last person standing in a contest like we will be having. I think this contest will be a lot of fun for everyone who participates and you have as good a chance as anyone to be the last person standing.
