Quote from mindya:
John positively identifies the great city as Jerusalem.

It seems mindya is at it again. Misinterpreting Scripture to back his interest as a preterist. He claims that the Book of Revelation identifies "the great city" as Jerusalem. But is that right?

CLV John 1:2 Rise! Go to Nineveh, the great city, and call out against it, for the cry of their evil ascends before Me.

CLV John 3:3 And Jonah is rising and going to Nineveh, according to the word of Yahweh. Now Nineveh had become a great city to Elohim, of three days walking.

Perhaps Jesus got confused and named the wrong city? Is it conceivable that mindya would be wrong on this issue?

He lists 10 verses that contain the phrase "the great city" in the KJV.

The problem is he is using the KJV, which, as we already know is not all that accurate. The KJV is based on Modern Greek manuscripts, not the Ancient Koine Greek manuscripts. And so there are a few verses that do not belong on that list...

CLV Re 14:8 And another, a second messenger, follows, saying, "It falls! It falls! Babylon the great has made all nations drink out of the wine of the fury of her prostitution!"

CLV Re 18:10 standing afar off because of the fear of her torment, saying, `Woe! Woe! that great city! Babylon, the strong city! for in one hour your judging came.'

CLV Re 21:10 And he carries me away, in spirit, on a mountain, huge and high, and shows me the holy city, Jerusalem, as it is descending out of heaven from God,

No mention of a "great city" in these verses.

Perhaps mindya missed the word "spiritually" in Rev. 11:8? Perhaps he forgot to look it up in Strong's?

_____Strong's_____

G4153 pneumatikos pnyoo-mat-ik-oce'
adverb from G4152;

non-physically, i.e. divinely, figuratively.

And much like a house of cards all of his theories on the Book of Revelation comes tumbling down.

THE WHOLE WORLD IS MARCHING TOWARDS JERUSALEM! A co-laborer in ministry writes: "The thoughtful person can hardly listen to, or read, the world news these days without sensing the growing tension as we seem to be moving toward an inevitable global crisis of terrible magnitude." This is EXACTLY what the Bible predicts for the world (cf. Rev). The world is headed for a period of JUDGMENT in what the Bible calls "The Day of the Lord". This is the time when God will directly intervene in worldwide JUDGMENT that will culminate in the Second Coming of Christ and the setting up of His kingdom on earth. According to 1 Thess. 5:2 "the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night." In spite of all the "signs", the world in rebellion to God and His truth will be oblivious to what is coming. They have no regard for the PROPHETS and therefore are in the DARK (cf. 1 Thess. 5:4).

The Bible teaches that in the last days there is going to be an upsurge in worldwide anti-Semitism culminating in the entire world rallying against and laying siege against Jerusalem. In this prophetic sense the entire world is marching towards Jerusalem. Because Israel has been under prolonged "discipline" in which God has pretty much allowed the Gentiles to have their way with Jerusalem (cf. Lk. 21:24) the world has completely lost sight of YHWH (the covenant-God of Israel). But He is still there! He is still on His throne and He is still keeping covenant with Israel. In the last days God will yet bring Israel to repentance and He will restore them. He will yet fulfill all His covenant promises to them. The world has no regard for this truth! Zech. 12 and 14 predicts that eventually the world will march on Jerusalem and attempt to dislodge it. In Zech. 12:3 God says, "I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it." Jerusalem will prove to be a ROCK too heavy for the entire world to move. In trying they will be cut in pieces. But try they will! Zech. 14:2 says, "For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem..."

There is a reason that tiny Israel is in the news every day. Since Genesis 12 on God has been speaking to the world through Israel. The Scriptures came through the Jews. The Messiah is Jewish. Salvation is of the Jews (cf. Jn. 4:22). Prophecy swirls around the nation of Israel. Israel is God's prophetic "timepiece". The Church Age is a "parenthetical" age. God in discipline temporarily set Israel aside (cf. Rom. 9-11) and during this time He is building a forever family consisting of whosoever will believe in Christ whether they be Jew or Gentile (cf. Gal. 3:28). But when the church is complete (at the Rapture - 1 Thess. 4:13-17) God will then resume and fulfill His prophetic program with Israel. Zech. 12:9 says, "It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem." It will happen - it's just a matter of God's timing.

In the meantime our marching orders are clear. It is not for us to know God’s precise timing, rather we have been empowered by the Spirit to be Christ’s witnesses to the ends of the earth (cf. Acts 1:7-8). This is to be our great preoccupation as we await the blessed hope of our coming Lord (cf. Titus 2:13). Perhaps Today! Maranatha!

Psalm 2:5–6 (NKJV)

5 Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure:

6 “Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion.”

Zechariah 2:8 (NKJV)

8 For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.

Zechariah 2:12–13 (NKJV)

12 And the Lord will take possession of Judah as His inheritance in the Holy Land, and will again choose Jerusalem.

13 Be silent, all flesh, before the Lord, for He is aroused from His holy habitation!”

Live Ready!

CLV Jer 29:18 And I have pursued after them with sword, with famine, and with pestilence, and have given them for a trembling to all kingdoms of the earth, for a curse and for an astonishment, and for a hissing, and for a reproach among all the nations whither I have driven them,

CLV Deut 28:37 You will become an object of astonishment, a proverb and a byword among all the peoples where Yahweh shall lead you.

More than once in history the Jews were pursued by those who would see them become extinct.

But there are those here would say that all (or some) of the prophecies of the Bible have already been fulfilled.

I have looked into what prophecies have been fulfilled. But we have not come to the "end times."
