For me it's Munich Germany due to there being several medieval castles nearby to tour.

In 1985 I went to Europe with a Eurail pass for about a month. I visited various cities in different countries, hopping the train from one to the next.

AAAAHHHH, you have been where I so want to go!!!!!

I love going to Fairy Stone State Park, located in Patrick County, Virginia - so much to do and digging for the crystals and the area

Chippokes State Park in Sussex, VA - can hop the free ferry at Scotland to get over to Jamestown and Williamsburg and the wildlife and sharks teeth hunting

OBX, NC aka Outer Banks, NC. On Corolla and Ocracoke are wild ponies to watch, on Roanoke Island used to be a great campground before they turned it into a subdivision that floods frequently but the Lost Colony performance still goes on there. Great restaurants and fudge shops too.

It's great to travel by train, isn't it?

I loved the Christmas markets in Munich.

I'd choose Bali. It's incredibly beautiful and has a unique, spiritual culture. The people lead simples lives and are very happy and friendly.

It was for me, but it may not be for everyone. I'd say it depends on the preference of the individual traveler as some people prefer to take it slow and only go to one or two places while relaxing and experiencing the local culture. For this type of traveler, a prepaid train pass may be a waste of money. It's a good idea if you want to do a lot of moving around from place to place, but haven't decided for sure where; I was able to go anywhere I wanted on impulse without paying. I also saved more money by sometimes traveling overnight from one destination to the next rather than paying for a hotel/hostel.

I think a Trans-Siberian trip would be interesting.

It has been a long while since I have been on a train. Last time was a regional "tourist" train in western North Carolina, old time train cars and all. I went on Amtrak a bunch in the 80's, and rode the TGV in France 3 times.
