"It's deja vu all over again." -- Yogi Berra

The Evil Empire and its murderous military machine will come to the rescue of the Syrian people, whom we all dearly love and to whom we Americans would all open our hearts and homes to every single one of them when they become refugees of another imperialist intervention by America's gangster-capitalist ruling-class.

Just how f**king stupid does American's criminal, murderous, raping, looting, war-loving, ruling-class think that the American people and the people of the world are?

-------------------

Syria’s alleged gas attack: An imperialist provocation
6 April 2017
World Socialist Web Site
https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2017/04/06/pers-a06.html

Excerpt:

The Trump administration publicly responded to unsubstantiated allegations that forces loyal to the government of President Bashar al-Assad bore responsibility for a chemical attack in Syria’s northwestern Idlib province with the threat of a new escalation of the American intervention in the war-ravaged Middle Eastern country.

Speaking alongside one of Washington’s favorite Arab puppet rulers, Jordan’s King Abdullah II, during a joint news conference at the White House, Trump declared that the “heinous actions by the Assad regime cannot be tolerated” and had “crossed a lot of lines for me.” While condemning his predecessor, Barack Obama, for failing to carry through on a threat to intervene militarily in Syria over alleged chemical weapons attacks in 2013, Trump declared “I now have the responsibility,” adding that his “attitude toward Syria and Assad has changed very much.”

Washington’s ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, meanwhile, issued an even more direct threat of unilateral US military action in the run-up to an anticipated Russian veto of a provocative Western-backed resolution that could serve as a fig leaf for aggression against Syria. “When the United Nations consistently fails in its duty to act collectively, there are times in the life of states that we are compelled to take our own action,” she said.

Fourteen years after the US invaded Iraq, turning that country and much of the Middle East into a charnel house, Washington is at it again, employing a strikingly similar pretext for imperialist aggression.

Once again, the US and world public is being bombarded with unsubstantiated claims about “weapons of mass destruction” allegedly employed by an oppressed former colonial country, mixed with crocodile tears and feigned moral outrage from a government responsible for more civilian deaths and war crimes than any regime since the fall of the Nazi Third Reich.

The pretext for this orchestrated campaign has all the earmarks of an imperialist provocation planned and executed by the Central Intelligence Agency and allied Western secret services with the aim of shifting US policy in relation to Syria.

First, there is the question of motive. Who benefits from such a crime? Clearly, it is not the Assad regime, which, with the aid of Russia and Iran, has largely vanquished the Islamist “rebels” that were armed, financed and trained by the CIA and Washington’s regional allies in the bloody six-year-long war for regime change. The government now rules over 80 percent of the country, including all of its major cities, with the Islamists’ hold reduced to largely rural areas of Idlib province. Under conditions in which the Trump administration had been signaling a shift in focus from toppling Assad to fighting the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), why would Damascus carry out such a provocative attack?

The CIA-backed “rebels” themselves, however—along with their patrons in the US military and intelligence apparatus—have every interest in staging such a provocation as a means of thwarting the government’s consolidation of its rule throughout Syria. Moreover, numerous investigations, including by the UN’s own chemical disarmament agency, have made it clear that these forces, dominated by the Syrian Al Qaeda affiliate, the Al Nusra Front, have carried out similar attacks using both chlorine and sarin gas, which they have received from their regional backers in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey and which they themselves have proven capable of manufacturing.

Then there is the issue of timing. The alleged gas attack was launched Tuesday morning, coinciding with the opening in Brussels of a European Union-sponsored “Conference on Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region,” which was to review proposals for “political transition” in Syria as well as Europe’s intervention in the potentially lucrative reconstruction of the ravaged country. The alleged chemical attack set the stage for renewed demands for regime change and criticism of the Trump administration for suggesting that the ouster of Assad was no longer a priority.

There is a definite pattern here. The last time that Washington and its allies accused the Assad regime of a major chemical weapons attack and nearly launched a full-scale war on that pretext was in August 2013. That alleged attack, which subsequent revelations exposed as a “rebel” provocation carried out with the help of Turkish intelligence, was launched on the very day that UN weapons inspectors arrived in Damascus.

The most telling aspect of the entire affair, however, is the extraordinary coordination of the entire corporate media in the launching of a full-throated campaign for military action before the basic facts of the incident were even known, much less a serious investigation conducted. It seemed that even before the alleged incident in Syria was reported, all of the major newspaper editors and columnists as well as the television news commentators had received the same talking points.

None of them, of course, bothered to inform their readers and viewers that the sole sources of the information they retailed as good coin consisted of Al Qaeda-connected “activists” in Syria along with US intelligence and military officials pushing for war.

Leading the pack, as usual, was the New York Times, which carried the headline “Chemical Attack on Syrians Ignites World’s Outrage.” What evidence there is of such “outrage,” outside of the world of intelligence agencies, state officials and their media hacks was not clear. Nor, for that matter, was there any explanation for the selective character of this “outrage.”

It is noteworthy that this moral outpouring came just a day after Trump gave the red carpet treatment to Gen. Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the butcher of Cairo, who slaughtered 1,000 unarmed demonstrators in a single day. Nor, for that matter, did the Times evince any such “outrage” over the 200 Iraqi civilians killed in a single US bombing raid in Mosul last month, or the hundreds if not thousands more buried alive by US bombs and missiles dropped on schools, mosques and homes in Syria itself, not to mention in Yemen.

Marco Rubio had some interesting things to say about the chemical gas attack.-
Assad must be removed.
When civilians and especially children are being murdered.
The Syrian people will never be supportive of their government.
They will join forces with any rebel group.

For years, the plan was to let them form a regime change.
Assad has no political opponents.

No rational person believes Assad went off his meds this week and ordered a chemical weapons attack. What on earth would be the point of using chemical weapons? He has plenty of conventional bombs and artillery at his disposal, including the might of the Russian air force. The obvious explanation is that it's a ploy by ISIS to drive a wedge between Russia/Assad and the US, who are both enemies of ISIS.

You saw how well this routine worked in Iraq. About a million dead civilians, thousands of flag-draped coffins, and a few trillion added to the national debt.

(Do you believe the Iraqi people thank you for that?)

Y'all did see that, right? It wasn't before your time. It happened right before your eyes, to resounding cheers as you slaughtered Iraqi soldiers trying to defend their homes and families, then moved on to bombing civilians and starving them out by blowing up their fresh water and power supplies and cutting off medicine and food.

(Do you believe the Iraqi people thank you for that?)

And then of course you gave birth to ISIS, originating as partisan resistance fighters formed from the destroyed Iraqi Republican Guard.

You need to be able to learn from these mistakes and stop doing the same thing while expecting different results. The people calling for a boots on the ground invasion of Syria are evil. Those who stand by and do nothing are complicit.

Oh my God! Trump said that Assad is "killing little babies, little innocent babies." Something must be done! Oh the humanity! We must go to war right now -- no questions asked -- totally destroy Syria (turn it into another Iraq) and kill a couple million Syrians (including lots of women and children) so that we can save the poor, little, innocent, Syrian babies.

When contemplating war, beware of babies in incubators

Nayirah al-?aba? during her testimony. It was later revealed that she was the daughter of the Kuwaiti ambassador to the United States and that her testimony could not be verified.

Excerpts:

More than 10 years later, I can still recall my brother Sean's face. It was bright red. Furious. Not one given to fits of temper, Sean was in an uproar. He was a father, and he had just heard that Iraqi soldiers had taken scores of babies out of incubators in Kuwait City and left them to die. The Iraqis had shipped the incubators back to Baghdad. A pacifist by nature, my brother was not in a peaceful mood that day. "We've got to go and get Saddam Hussein. Now," he said passionately.

I completely understood his feelings. Although I had no family of my own then, who could countenance such brutality? The news of the slaughter had come at a key moment in the deliberations about whether the US would invade Iraq. Those who watched the non-stop debates on TV saw that many of those who had previously wavered on the issue had been turned into warriors by this shocking incident.

Too bad it never happened. The babies in the incubator story is a classic example of how easy it is for the public and legislators to be mislead during moments of high tension. It's also a vivid example of how the media can be manipulated if we do not keep our guards up.

The invented story eventually broke apart and was exposed.

American PR firm Hill & Knowlton was hired for $10.7 million to devise a campaign to win American support for the war. Craig Fuller, the firm's president and COO, had been then-President George Bush's chief of staff when the senior Bush has served as vice president under Ronald Reagan.

There need to be way more executions for fake news like this. The people who concocted and spread that story are guilty of about a million counts of murder.

No evidence, but it wouldn't be the first time Assad used chemical weapons.
They supposedly gave all those weapons over to Russia.
So who is to say Russia didn't give em' back.

It is known that you can't take on the U.S., Russia or China.
Their best bet is to drive a wedge between the power countries.

Assad could be playing the same game in reverse.

Hey! People turning up dead from WMD is not PROOF that they actually have WMD! Didn't you get the memo?

Because after countless Kurds turned up dead in Iraq from WMD's, Democrats are still to this day trying to say no WMD's were found in Iraq!

Make up your minds you 1gnorant [email protected] jacka$$es!

That punk Obummer drew a red line in the sand and when Syria started killing folks he did nothing or a little too little late.

I think he has gone to acting.

in this movie he is coming out of the bush.

And here he is doing some kind of border control.

Yes! "Countless" Kurds are dead (we Americans love those f**king Kurds soooooo much!) and now poor, little Syrian babies are dead (we Americans love those f**king little Syrian babies sooooooo much!), too. And like we did with Iraq, we must totally and utterly destroy Syria (i.e., the home of those beloved little Syrian babies), torture the f**k out of thousands of Syrians (i.e., the parents of those beloved little Syrian babies), unleash American military snipers like right-wing hero, Chris Kyle, who professed that he loved sniper-killing men, women, children -- it didn't matter, kill a few million Syrians (including lots of women, children and babies), and create lots of Syrian refugees trying to flee their destroyed, war-torn country so that those poor Syrian babies may live. Of course, those Syrian refugees are all evil criminals who we must turn away. That goes without saying. And even though we don't want to spend one thin dime on helping the American working class, when it comes to spending a few trillion rescuing poor, Syrian babies, why money is no object.

You're right. Obama just loved peace too much. That was his problem. He was too busy singing Kumbaya in the White House with all his liberal BFFs. Liberal presidents just aren't willing to be war presidents like we conservatives are.

How do you think this could benefit Assad? (It's obvious how it benefits ISIS, and the Kurds for that matter. Divide and conquer.)

This guy my be a strongman dictator, but he isn't stupid. I'm quite sure he saw Saddam swinging from the noose just like everyone else did.

Of course this situation is different because the Russians have Assad's back. I'm just wondering if you have some theory that could possibly make sense.

Ron Paul: "Zero Chance" Assad Behind Chemical Weapons Attack In Syria; Likely A False Flag
April 6, 2017
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-04-06/ron-paul-zero-chance-assad-behind-chemical-weapons-attack-syria-likely-false-flag

According to former Congressman Ron Paul, the chemical weapons attack in Khan Sheikhoun that killed 30 children and has led to calls for the Trump administration to intervene in Syria could have been a false flag attack.

As Paul Joseph Watson details, pointing out that the prospect of peace in Syria was moving closer before the attack, with ISIS and Al-Qaeda on the run, Paul said the attack made no sense.

“It looks like maybe somebody didn’t like that so there had to be an episode,” said Paul, asking, “who benefits?”

“It doesn’t make any sense for Assad under these conditions to all of a sudden use poison gases – I think there’s zero chance he would have done this deliberately,” said Paul.
he former Congressman went on to explain how the incident was clearly being exploited by neo-cons and the deep state to enlist support for war.

“It’s the neo-conservatives who are benefiting tremendously from this because it’s derailed the progress that has already been made moving toward a more peaceful settlement in Syria,” said Paul.
Many have questioned why Assad would be so strategically stupid as to order a chemical weapons attack and incite the wrath of the world given that he is closer than ever to winning the war against ISIS and jihadist rebels.

Just five days before the attack, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said, “The longer-term status of President Assad will be decided by the Syrian people,” implying a definite shift in U.S. foreign policy away from regime change in Syria.

Why would Assad put such assurances in jeopardy by launching a horrific chemical attack, allowing establishment news outlets like CNN to once against use children as props to push for yet another massive war in the Middle East?

You have no idea what you are talking about.

Skill-testing question... When was it that these Kurds were gassed by Saddam? Are you aware of what the Kurds were doing at the time?

#2: How exactly does that justify killing hundreds of thousands of Iraqi women and children in 2003?

#3: What is a "WMD" exactly? How do you determine what is and isn't? How many WMDs are in the US military arsenal (besides the obvious nukes)? How many are in the NYPD arsenal? Should we declare war on the NYPD?

#4: Do you still believe that Saddam was responsible for the 9/11 terrorist attack?

#5: Do you believe that the destruction of Iraq prevented "the next 9/11"? Or have you realized that it in fact lit a powder keg of terrorist attacks in retaliation, all over the US and Europe?

Well, you are right on this one Condor. The reported chemical attack that they are blaming on Assad was a CIA sponsored false flag operation. It has all the marks. Nothing new there, they did it once before, and now they are trying it again.

What disturbs me is that President Trump seems to be falling for it. I thought he promised during his campaign and afterwards that we would not engage in regime change. He seems to be shifting from reliance on Conservative advisers like Brandon to reliance on more Liberal leaning people, including his daughter and her husband whom he has just given a position in the WH. This is not good. He needs to do away with the CIA before they cause any more trouble. Of course, if he does that, they will try to assassinate him, but so what, they already are trying to do that. He needs to get his enemies out of the White House, relying on them for advise will end up doing him in. See the link:

Was Syrian chemical attack a false flag? History is repeating itself, timing of this has false flag written all over it, right on eve of a major aid conference in Brussels: https://youtu.be/3Ok9ui0rh1s

Louie you can put your conspiracy theories away.

Assad's military leaders have been acting on their own for quite a while now.

They are out of control and don't take their orders from Assad or the Russians anymore.

They need to be taken out of control, and this was only a taste of what they are gonna' get.

And God Bless you!

prove it

why waste millions and then let the evidence escape?

face it, spin it all you want...........Bush was going into Iraq no matter what

there are countless reports he made plans to invade Iraq, they just hatched a few different plans

Bush: No Link Between Iraq, Sept. 11 Attacks
U.N. chief weapons inspector Hans Blix told an Australian radio station Wednesday that he thinks Iraq destroyed most of its weapons of mass destruction 10 years ago, but kept up the appearance that it had them to deter a military attack.

The Bush administration began planning to use U.S. troops to invade Iraq within days after the former Texas governor entered the White House three years ago, former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill told CBS News' 60 Minutes.
