Remembering my friend Leo Divelbiss. Leo walked to town on Dec 19 1941 to join the Army, with money for bus fare and his mothers bible. Bus driver said he didn't go to the recruiting office but would bring him there free if no one objected and no one did. The Army door said gone to lunch, the Army Air Corpse said come over here and I'll help you, so he joined the Air Corpse. They took his bible and gave him a military issue one. While at war his daughter got polio and could not walk for years and his mother died without out getting to see her again.

Just remember liberals, most of those fallen soldiers died so that you could have and express your stupid liberal views today.

If they hadn't paid the ultimate price, you wouldn't be free to spout your ignorant BS!

Just remember not all soldiers were cons' and I got proof.

I doubt any of them were fighting politics in fox holes with one goal. To get home!

Service to our country is honorable even when our country isn't.

Aurora VFW Post 3631ยท

We are going to say this as gently as possible; please accept it in the spirit that it is offered.

Please do not thank a veteran this weekend. We have our day in November. This weekend is for our friends, our brothers and sisters who paid the ultimate sacrifice and gave their lives in the cause of freedom.

When you thank us, as sincere as it is, it reminds us that we came home, while they did not. Somehow, for us, it lessens the solemnity of the day and heightens our survivor guilt.

We appreciate your gratitude. We are embarrassed by it, but we appreciate it. But please, please, this weekend, remember it is not about service, it is about sacrifice.

And while willing, we did not make that sacrifice. . .

this is out of respect for those that gave us freedom of speech and religion and much more.

A large percentage of our country doesn't know of, or care about Normandy. A few weekends ago, British artist Jamie, accompanied by numerous volunteers, took to the beaches of Normandy with rakes and stencils in hand to etch 9,000 silhouettes into the sand, representing fallen soldiers.
Titled The Fallen 9000, the piece is meant as a stark visual reminder of those who died during the D-Day beach landings at Arromanches on June 6th, 1944 during WWII.
The original team consisted of 60 volunteers, but as word spread nearly 500 additional local residents arrived to help with the temporary installation that lasted only a few hours before being washed away by the tide.
9,000 Fallen Soldiers Etched into the Sand on Normandy Beach to Commemorate Peace Day.
What is surprising is that nothing about this was seen here in the U.S.
Someone from overseas had a friend who sent it with a note of gratitude for what the U.S. started there. Please share with others who understand "freedom is not free -- nor has it ever been"

perspective..........

I know about Normandy, but don't give a f**k, because it had little, if anything to do with me, other than if Germany had won the war, PERHAPS I'd be speaking German now, instead of English, though I doubt it, since Germany didn't seek to take over America and really had no beef with the U.S.

U.S. involvement in WW2 was economically driven. The U.S. provoked Japan with economic sanctions, an oil embargo and freezing Japanese assets in the U.S., this was all before Japan had done ANY harm to the U.S.

That was ALL simply to weaken Japan, which was becoming an increasing military, economic and political power in Asia.

The typical U.S. m.o., hate on nations trying to uplift themselves.

What did Japan do to the U.S. to deserve such treatment?

Of course, there were also other ECONOMIC motivations for the U.S. to enter WW2 that had nothing to do with Japan.

1. I noticed you didn't refute ANYTHING I said, because you CAN'T, because it is FACTUAL.

2. Since you BELIEVE I am incorrect, why don't you educate me and tell me why the U.S. got involved in WW2?

3. It WASN'T because of the Nazi treatment of Jews, Americans didn't give a f**k. The U.S. only entered the war after the Pearl Harbor attack, which again, the U.S. provoked.

If the U.S. TRULY gave a f**k about the Jews of Europe, why didn't America outright declare war on GERMANY from the very beginning?

Even the alleged WW2 veteran couldn't refute what I posted because it is the TRUTH.

Unless said soldiers died REPELLING an INVADING force, they have NOT died in defense of any of my rights for they were never in danger.

When soldiers INVADE another country that is NOT defense of ANYTHING.

STOP accepting propaganda to justify wars of aggression for profit.

We were helping the UK and that pizzed off Germany who were allies to Japan. Adolf Hitler declared war on us first. Europe was being threatened by Adolf as were my relatives in Australian, France and Poland.

You're right on that, but there are MANY details that are left out of both WW1 & 2 that most Americans don't know.

For example, most Americans don't know that in WW1 Germany sank the British oceanliner, Lusitania, a civilian ship, because Britian was transporting weapons and war supplies on civilian ships, which made ALL British ships FAIR targets and Germany even WARNED the world of that.

Most Americans also don't know that AMERICAN corporations supported BOTH sides if BOTH world wars. An example is Standard Oil, among other corporations supplying Nazi Germany with tetraethyl lead gasoline, which was used for the Nazi airforce, without it, Nazi Germany's air force would have been grounded.

Why don't you mention details like those when you speak of those wars?
