Scalise Shooter Expressed Anti-GOP Sentiments
The man who opened fire on a baseball field Wednesday morning, wounding House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and others, left behind a trail of writings and social media posts critical of U.S. politics in general and Republicans in particular.
Authorities say James T. Hodgkinson, 66, of Belleville, Illinois, fired the shots in a park just outside of Washington, D.C., while a Republican team was practicing for Thursday's scheduled Congressional Baseball Game. He also fired on police who responded to the incident. He was hit and died from his injuries.
Hodgkinson for the last two months had been living in Alexandria, Virginia, where the shooting took place, his wife told ABC News. He had reportedly worked previously as a home inspector and air quality tester. It was not immediately clear what brought Hodgkinson to Virginia.
Law enforcement authorities have not yet revealed any information about his possible motivation. Former Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders confirmed Hodgkinson volunteered for his campaign and said Wednesday that he was "sickened by this despicable act."
It was also not immediately clear whether Hodgkinson targeted his victims specifically, but a Facebook account belonging to a James T. Hodgkinson contains a 2015 post that is critical of Scalise and links him to the Ku Klux Klan.
Other social media posts and letters to a local newspaper that appear to come from Hodgkinson depict an activist deeply troubled with the U.S. political system, and especially the GOP, voicing anger and resentment toward apparent income inequality and a tax system rigged in favor of the wealthy.

"If the rich paid their fair share of taxes today, we wouldn't be in this predicament," a James T. Hodgkinson wrote in a letter to the editor published in the Belleville News-Democrat on July 29, 2012. "We need to vote all Republicans out of Congress."
"We can get our country back if we all vote the right way," according to the letter's author, who wrote so frequently that other readers wrote in to refute about his comments. One described his prolific writings as "a broken record," in an Aug. 17, 2012, response.
An assistant at the News-Democrat told U.S. News the paper confirms the identities of its letter contributors before publishing.
In March, the user linked to a Change.org petition on Facebook calling for legally removing President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence from office. "Trump is a Traitor. Trump Has Destroyed Our Democracy. It's Time to Destroy Trump & Co.," the post states. The account also expresses its support for Sanders.
The Washington Post reported that authorities in Belleville responded to Hodgkinson's home in March for reports of a man firing shots. The Post reports that Hodgkinson had been taking target practice and that the phone call reported some 50 shots "in the pine trees" at the end of his street.
Rep. Jeff Duncan, who arrived early at the baseball practice, told reporters later on Wednesday he spoke with the gunman shortly before the shooting began.
"He was just a normal guy," the South Carolina Republican said. "He says, 'Excuse me, sir, can you tell me whether these are Democrats or Republicans practicing?' I said, 'This is a Republican team.' He said, 'OK.'"
The man was not carrying anything and then walked away, Duncan said, adding that he has no doubt having seen photographs law enforcement officials have released that his encounter was with the shooter.
"He didn't have anything in his hands, no bag, nothing out of the ordinary."

It's actually gotten to the point where we let terrorists and crazy people dictate our lives. Politicians don't even have to keep us fighting each other, we are more than willing to do the dirty work ourselves. Anyone who thinks things will get better by boring a different person into office is insane at this point. There will be no unity. By definition, defence is the act of protecting one's self from attack.

.22 caliber: Pneumatic pump. 4 pumps max for around 641 fps. Good for 40 yard small game and/or 30 yard varmints. And/or 10-20 yard self defense against humans aiming for the eye ball.

Trump promoted violence during his campaign and didn't condemn things like the guy who killed those guys on the train who stood up for the Muslim women who were being harassed.

So how does that square with the idea of your "Defense budget" being spent on Tomahawk missiles and aircraft carriers, drone-launched Hellfires etc?
Where is the "Aggression budget"?
Obviously there is no spin by me - Just pointing out your logical inconsistency in your attempted nit-picking. The whole point of these "2nd Amendment Solution" folks is to shoot the political opposition in "defense" of their opinions, like I said.
