After buying their yummy chicken sandwiches and classic cut waffle fries, customers at the Chick-Fil-A in Pinellas Park had some unwanted visitors. Yep, according to Tampa Bay times a theatrical and disruptive anti-meat protest disrupted the Chick-fil-a and scared a lot of kids. The protesters wore different costumes for theatrical effect. Some protesters dressed as animals and other protesters dressed as butchers. The “butchers” pretended to stab the “animals” who then laid down on the tile floor and played dead. The intrusive protesters held signs and repeatedly chanted, “It’s not food. It’s violence.” The customers replied by chanting “GET OUT! GET OUT!” You never wanna mess with someone who is just trying to eat…

In 2014, the US spent $374 billion on pharmaceuticals. That’s more than the combined gross national products of New Zealand and Bangladesh. It’s also well over 200 percent of what the US federal government spent on education in 2015.” The idea that chicken is a healthful alternative to red meat is fictitious. A skinless chicken thigh, the book points out, contains more fat—including saturated fat, the most dangerous kind—than over two dozen different cuts of lean beef. Chicken is potentially the most fattening meat. Carcinogens form in chicken and other meats as they are cooked. Chicken is the top source of sodium for American adults because the chicken industry injects poultry carcasses with salt water to increase market weight and therefore prices, while still being able to label its product “100% natural.” Chicken contains more cholesterol than a pork chop. And cholesterol is found primarily in lean parts of meat. “The birds come through on hooks,” Dr. Lester Friedlander says in the book in explaining the processing of chicken carcasses, “and then a mechanical arm goes up the cloaca [the opening through which the bird releases urine and feces] and pulls out everything inside the cavity. Unfortunately, when the mechanical arm pulls the intestines out, they often burst. Then all the fecal contamination is inside the bird. At the end of the poultry slaughter line there’s a big chill tank to cool the birds down quick so they can get packaged and shipped out. If you have just one of those chickens with broken intestines and fecal contamination, the whole chill tank is contaminated. They call the water in the tank, ‘fecal soup.’ All the chickens throughout the day, if they don’t change the water, are contaminated with feces. Hundreds of thousands of chickens go through that water. And while they’re in the tank the chicken flesh soaks up that fecal soup. That’s what they call ‘retained water’ on the chicken label.” “About 90 percent of the nation’s retail chicken is contaminated with fecal matter,” the book states. “Yes, that includes the kind you buy at your clean, local supermarket. This is according to a 2011 FDA report, which monitored bacteria such as E. faecalis and E. faecium, on meat, concluding that 90 percent of chicken parts, 91 percent of ground turkey, 88 percent of ground beef, and 80 percent of pork chops have fecal contamination.” We need to stop believing the lie that we require animal products in our diet for protein, calcium, iron, omega-3s or any other nutrient. “Every nutrient from meat, dairy, and eggs can be found, in a form that is as healthy or healthier, in plants,” as Dr. Neal Barnard points out in the film. A groundswell of awareness is surfacing, and people are feeling the change before they can articulate it. We know there is something terribly broken about the industrial food, medical, and pharmaceutical systems, but most people don’t know what it is. I guess we're at the point where we just blame the organization that we most desperately want to take down in association with any abhorrent situation. Woman tears a fetus out with a coat hanger (because some zealot in the governors office signed a bill stating that abortion clinics that only hand out pills need to have surgical centers or close down, in an effort to discourage LEGAL abortion)...damn that Planned Parenthood! Now, full disclosure - I'm a pescatarian (a word so foreign, I actually spelled it right, and it still gets the red underline of death) for health and wellness reasons, but I don't give a "Mr. Hankey" about animals. I'll shoot a baby deer in the mouth mid snore as it sleeps blissfully alongside it's loving siblings. Most of the meat I get is local farm raised. There are a lot of farms where I live. I get dozens of local farmers fresh eggs from a buddy of mine as well. I eat a lot of salmon and salads. In some places in the world it is hard to survive without eating meat.

I know a lot about herbal and alternative medical treatments, but he will not listen, he listens only to Edgar Casey—Edgar Casey, you know, Edgar Casey said this, Edgar Casey said that. So I have given up on him and leave him to his own devices. It is so sad. I have cited the statistics to him concerning life span, but he just dismisses it. Veganism is a religion to him now. Although I am five years older than he, my health is excellent, and I know that, statically speaking, I will likely outlive him by years. I also researched the New Age Movement and warned him about that, and chided him for revolting against God and siding with his arch rival Lucifer--but, again, to no avail. The New Age Movement has this doctrine that there is no such thing as objective truth, that truth is subjective, that your truth is different than my truth, and so on, which takes your ability to think aright away from you. Once you can no longer think aright, you are a captive. I researched the New Age Movement and warned him about it, but once you are mentally disoriented in this way, there is little hope for you. He’s gone his way, and I’ve gone mine. So sad. Louie
